SOTC: July 2023

Welcome to my collection again! Lots of new watches to share.
I am aware of the effect of these collection videos. They sort of give viewers the seal of approval that it's ok to add another watch, maybe even suggest that's you should own more watches.
But it's all down to personal taste and budget, it's great to own one great watch. If you enjoy more, then get more, but it should never be a financial burden and quite often you get more enjoyment from owning less and wearing your favourites.
Still it's fun to try different things on the way to a consolidation.
Some of these watches have increased in value somehow, but I'm not here to suggest watches are a sound investment. You're likely to loose a lot of money on the way. But if you do have good taste and find unappreciated gems, then you might come out ahead. Don't stress it...

In each case, each one has the collection they want and also the one they can. I have just 5 watches and for me, it is perfect because I use and enjoy all of them, but I respect who is happy with one, 10,40 or 100 watches, we are all different. I own and Speedmaster hesalite crystal, Rolex Explorer 39mm, Tubor BB GMT Black dial, Tudor BB Black (41mm.) and Longines Conquest Heritage as a dress watch. I'm more than happy with all of them and my favourites are the Omega and the GMT. I have no intention of selling any or acquiring any more. Thanks Uptick for a great video.

Love the collection. There are 6-8 pieces that I could see you moving on mid tier Omega, Tudor, and a few others to consolidate and free up funds to try new pieces. But a good chunk are absolute lifers!

What a fantastic collection! Congrats on the AP and best of luck in getting allocation for a FP Journe. One quick is the Omega world time does offer indications for daylight saving time. The city names are color coded, depending on if a city represents a time zone that needs to be adjusted for day light saving time.

Chapeau, L'Uptick! The collection appears to be ticking along nicely. A very nice spread of boujie and basic, fun and serious, rich and poor, complex and simple etc etc... I think we have 5 core dupes between our respective collections, so I guess I would like yours! I think I'm at a similar point in my collecting journey - in the process of consolidating away from blind alleys. For me, those were integrated sports, too many chronographs and too many GS/Sinn/Omega quick hits. I think I've found 'myself' in watches, so have been more disciplined in '23 and probably will be more so in '24... My 'transfer box' is brimming and largely unmissed. I'm more than set for everyday pieces, so looking to buy one or two hand-wind, mid size, simple, nice refs as we enter the Sept-Dec transfer window. But easier said than done - most top tier ticks out there still too big/lux for my taste and the metal on the money (LUC 1860, LF...) impossible to get. But Breguet beckons as ever...

You have some wonderful watches, and lots and lots and lots of watches that I feel are just wasted money, in the sense that you will never get more than a fraction of your money back. I'm a believer in quality over quantity. Currently I have 8 good watches, and a few cheap watches, only a couple of grand's worth, mostly G-Ghocks and MoonSwatches and a modded Seiko. The idea of having dozens of semi-expensive watches is crazy to me. To me, a watch collection should always be worth more than you spent on it - which is easily achieved. But I understand we are all different, for example, I probably wear my Rolex Polar Explorer II at least 70% of the time, even though most of my watches are worth more. I am more than happy to see it on my wrist every day, for months if need be. You probably change your watch 4 times a day, or at least you should, because otherwise what's the point? So, I respect your passion, but we are not on the same wavelength. I hope you do'n't mind me being honest, but one thing that bothered me is that you have a Royal Oak, but it's a 36mm and slightly weird. I have a blue 15500, which is also a Royal Oak, but the difference is that I wouldn't swap your entire collection for it. I know you collection is worth more than my Royal Oak, so to put it another way, if we were on a desert island and I just had my explorer and my AP, I absolutely would not - for one moment - consider a straight swap, my 2 watches for your 99. We are just not on the same wavelength. Vive le difference, I suppose.

You know, I've been into those microbrand vintage style drops with reasonable movements before. In the end they're a quick fix and lack substance. I think that money is best kept for a more meaningful purchase. Not to mention how each release is followed by another that's even nicer then another etc.
