The first time 11 years ago for our first vacation I made sure to discuss with him what his preferences were. Early/late riser, beach/pool, organized tours/discoveries. It worked so well that my husband is and will always be my #1 travel partner. No fighting, squabbling, or pouting. Just good vibes all around. I will leave him in the room and go for long walks on the beach or just relax by the pool and eventually he will come and join me. Love him:))

If occasionally cruising with out your hubby works for you that is great. I think sometimes a week apart is refreshing, it shows that you are in a trusting, functional relationship. My hubby and I are polar opposite on so many things , his strong traits are my weaknesses and vice versa. He sleeps and snores and I dont sleep! That is ok too. We recently lost a very good friend and it has taught me to be thankful for every day with my spouse and every breath we take! Perspective. Congrats on 17 years, we have been together for 20 years and married for 16+.

Light sleeper here too. I typically wake up at least 2x every night and if it's after 3:30 am it's highly unlikely I will be able to get back to sleep at all. My husband and I have a similar dynamic. We respect each other as individuals and have 100% trust in the strength of our relationship. I think that's what allows us the confidence and freedom to pursue our own interests as well as enjoying time together. We've been happy together for 21 years and looking forward to many, many more!

I have taken several solo trips without the husband or others. The husband has only recently started venturing solo, but has found it just as nice. We love our adventures together, but we also recognize we have different interests. I don't want him to spend his time worrying if I'm bored or not. He also doesn't want to hold me back from doing things he doesn't want to do. I think it's very healthy for relationships to have a little time apart. My commercial was for Lexus.

My husband and I are what is called "Sleep Divorced" for many years now. He has Sleep apnea and uses a cpap, however, he has an issue with his mouth opening during the night and the noise is very annoying. I have issues too, I have a badly injured lower back, a bad outdoors on the side of a mountain rock climbing fall many, many years ago, along with restless leg syndrome and chronic insomnia Makes me a very restless sleeper. So we can't be in the same bed at night, so we Sleep in separate rooms. If we could when we cruise afford separate cabins we would, however, we deal with it, have to love separate beds and white noise sound machines. We also do lots of things separately, he's been away at a friend's in the mid-west and I'm at home. There are times I go home and visit family or gone cross country to visit friends and he's stayed home, he has even taken several month long trips to Japan with his anime friends. It's good to do things apart from one another, it's healthy to have separate interest, and now we are going on almost 25 years together.

I am single, and always have been, so it's never been an issue. But watching couples around me, who seem joined at the hip when on holiday, I love your perspective on it. I did a one month trip in New Zealand, travelling on a minibus with 15 other people. I spent an extra amount of money to have a room for myself (the default was a shared room in a backpackers/youth hostel). I really needed a bit of personal space, after a 10 hour day with my (lovely) travel companions! And I can imagine, that if you're used to spending your workdays apart (for 8-9 hours), then you still might need some time apart on holiday. Have a great time on your seperate cruises! Oh: I got a commercial for Veet Pure wax.... I guess KZbin thinks my legs need doing ...

Good for Markus!!! I've been with my hubby for almost 27 years!!!!!!!!! We are the Yin and Yang of each other and as we get older (we're both 62), there's some medical issues that we need the other to help take care of. I would travel alone, but I don't have the income (I can relate to you Morgan), and hubby is a workaholic (which he sometimes needs to be to fill in the income gap as I'm no longer able to work). Maybe, you can teach Markus how to video short segments so you can show your viewers what this new Aida ship looks like (and translate the German/Deutsch into English).

Hey Morgan, nice to see you back and by the way you are looking very handsome! I wondered why I have not received YT notifications for your videos and yes, it also happened to me, I was unsubscribed ... all taken care of and I am back. Yes, as to being a light sleeper, I am one and yes I also nap during the daytime ... guess what? The older you get, the less sleep you need; however, I do sleep better if I drink milk or have a bit of cereal before going to bed and wake up much rested. People watching on airports ... OMG. Nowadays you see practically EVERYTHING. As to traveling apart once a year, not a big deal especially if you are both comfortable doing so. As to you having cruised with Aida before and now Markus cruising with the newest Aida ... funny, I do not remember having cruised with you guys ... he he he😆😅😊 Seriously, though - I wish I was fluent in German as I would like to sail on this one.

I am also a light sleeper. I live and sleep alone so I don't ordinarily have to worry about someone snoring, breathing loudly, moving around, etc. I have in the past and my sleep during those times was also essentially a series of naps. I've taken a few trips where I've had to share a room with someone (or a cabin with several) and while it isn't perfect, I put in ear buds and turn on the White Noise app (the "brown noise" one seems to work best for me). It's not perfect but it's a huge improvement. Even alone I sleep with a fan to cover most normal nighttime noises.

I had an ad for Boost something 🤷🏻♀️. If Markus likes to take pictures, it might be a video idea for you to share whatever pictures he’s willing to share. I mean still images of ship or his cabin and you retelling whatever he tells you behind the scenes. I know he’s not usually into the videos much, but if he’s taking pictures anyway and isn’t uncomfortable with you sharing, I think his trips would be interesting even if the format is different that what you usually do. I’ve also been thinking that in another video, you mentioned making salad dressings at home. If you’re willing to share, I think that idea would fit your Guten Morgan channel 😉.
@jodellzambrano85802 жыл бұрын
I agree. I go places on my own quite often. In a couple of weeks I’m going to another state for my high school reunion. Hubby (I’ve used this term for years) would be bored stiff and, frankly, I don’t want to entertain him when I’m with friends I only see about every five years. Besides, isn’t the saying, “absence makes the heart grow fonder?” Or is it “ out of sight, out of mind?” I always get those two confused!

I travel solo and love the upsides you mention, but also feel the downsides - sometimes I wish I could share the experience with another person. Also the cost is hard to bear when I am paying almost for two people. People often ask me if I am afraid to travel alone, but if you prepare properly there is no need to be. When I was married we did need to have separate and different interests and I think that is healthy in a relationship.
@23oakhill2 жыл бұрын
I usually cruise solo, it has ups and downs I agree. The cost is painful but solo cabins are almost impossible to book, and also so tiny and almost always inside which I cannot do, tried inside once and had to ask to be moved to outside and pay the huge extra cost on board. I had acute claustrophobia , never knew.! I have solved the eating alone problem , book freedom/ anytime dining and ask to be sat on a big mixed table. You make great friends and I enjoy it very much.

Thanks for the video. Both enjoy your cruises. I travel solo regularly and enjoy being completely independent from someone else. The price for solo travellers is an issue, but I booked the 3 cruises I have done so far without any extra charge (all during this pandemic). Now I was lucky enough to win a cruise for 2 people and realised, there are just 3 persons I would voluntarily share a cabin with 🤔. Maybe I got weird over time and am used to having my own place and doing what I want regardless of others 😂. Guess what: I‘ll cruise solo again (2 friends didn’t get holiday, son would travel with me and to this destination but not on a cruise ship). I wish you and Markus a wonderful Sunday
