Riding a Vespa scooter opens the door to a unique experience that I've come to call magic. All of my senses are amplified during a ride on my scooter, especially in autumn when the colors and fragrances of decaying leaves fill the air. Central Pennsylvania provides a rich landscape of fields and forests in which to find that Vespa riding magic.

The scooter does let me fly. And the landscape here is beautiful and quiet for the most part which makes flying a lot easier.

Love your videos, Steve. They’re very relaxing and almost therapeutic I’d say, and the fact that I love scooters keeps me coming back for more. Keep up the great work, from Melbourne, Australia.

Riding has become a sort of motion therapy for me. I'm glad some of that experience is filtering out through the videos. Thanks for the kind words about the things I share. You're approaching summer in Australia! It's getting cold here now...

Another first class meditation. To me, driving a car is like watching TV: the world filtered through a screen, but on a motorcycle you're outside living and feeling it. I notice much more wildlife and scenery, the smells and play of light. Motorcyclists have a camaraderie and pretty much always nod to one another. Drivers could care less about other motorists. I've learned more about engines in a few years of owning a motorcycle than I've ever learned in 30 years of driving a car. I wish I'd come to it sooner.

You're right in your assessment of driving a car is an experience filtered through a screen. I've wondered if there are ways to make it more like it is when I ride on two wheels but I have come to accept that it is just a different experience. One of the big differences that you suggest is the camaraderie among riders. It's a common occurrence to strike up conversations at gas stations, parking lots, or along the road with other riders. That seldom happens when driving. Riders just seem to feel connected by a unique experience. Like you, as much as I try not having regrets, I wish I would have started riding sooner too.

Hi Steve, I so enjoy your videos, especially scooter rides. I have my first 2 wheel vehicle a Vespa Primavera. I live in Australia, east coast, beautiful country roads and Vista's. Great Aussie bush , wallabies, birds, goannas, snakes are always a possibility. The whole experience is nourishing for my human, lots of wow, gorgeous and fabulous fragrances of grasses, honeysuckle and clean air. Thankyou for sharing...

Thank you for your kind words about the videos. I appreciate them. Australia seems to have an endless array of wonderful possibilities for someone who rides. And it opens the door to allowing the spirit to soar. Riding does something special that way.

Thank you Steve, you just made my day! When I saw there was a new video from the "poet Vespa rider" 😉, I stopped everything and clicked on PLAY. It is one of you best delivery. I will watch it again the next time I'm bored. BTW, last week I told my local Vespa dealer to reserve a GTS for me. Next Spring, I will have one also. In the mean time, you and others I follow, will keep the dream alive. Thanks again Steve!

I'm glad you enjoyed my little autumn ride. It certainly was a fine time to ride. As far as being the "poet Vespa rider" I'm not sure what to say. It made me smile! Congratulations on taking steps toward acquiring a new GTS. Vespa makes fine scooters. I'll try and keep your dream alive until you are on the road and smiling on your own Vespa.

Loved this video! I have wanted a Vespa pretty much my entire life but when I finally got around to buying a small ride I wound up with the Honda Trail 125. I bought it over a Vespa because of it's off road capabilities. But it still provides me with those magical feelings to which you speak. I love it for all the exact reasons you mentioned. You cracked me up when you mentioned your love for running errands multiple times a day. Each one of those rides is like a mini adventure, or at least I try to make it one. :) Of course my Trail 125 is my go to ride. I love your videos....keep up the good work!

Another wonderful ride in your beautiful backyard. You said it doesn't matter where you ride, and I think that's so important. It also doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you're having fun. There used to be saying in the sixties "Do your own thing" but that somehow got hijacked by advertisers selling something, and now people are buying things they don't need, and going places they don't really care about. Thanks again for the inspiration 👍🇦🇺

I agree with everything you've said in your comments. Whatever simple sensibilities we once had about material things have been pushed aside by advertising and marketing that has convinced us that our lives will be better with bigger, faster, more things and experiences. So much so that we don't seem to have time to actually enjoy or experience them. The more I ride the more I see myself being lured into that world of things and places I don't really care about...

Nice fall scenery and another thoughtful video. I've heard from plenty of motorcycle friends that they feel there is more "involvement" with a motorcycle. I really appreciate the pure riding experience on scooters or with the DCT transmission on my CTX. The cold? Not so much, for me. Since we have made this move to Arizona, I've had to get used to an autumn day starting in the 40s. And then a 35º increase for the high temp for the day. Layers. I do miss that 10º swing from highs to lows in the Tropical Tip.

It was a beautiful day. Not much left now in the way of colorful foliage. Lately the days here are starting in the low to mid 30s and might make it all the way up to 45F by mid afternoon. I'm slowly adjusting my brain to the colder weather. Nothing tropical here!

How did I miss this one, Steve? I took Anita, my new 300 GTS "Classico" out for a half-hour spin this morning. An overcast Saturday, about 48F which, for the us here in the desert, is pretty doggone chilly. Didn't care, really. I just bundled up and took off. Yeah, "magic" is just the right word.

Another quality video! I just purchased a 2016 Honda CTX700 with DCT to join my Primavera. Got it from a dealer near you, in Hatfield!!I’m thinking I will get the same feelings from the Honda, because there is no clutch. I do believe in the Vespa Magic, though, for lots of reasons. It makes me smile.

Thanks for your kind words about the video. The CTX700 will make a fine riding companion and choice with your Primavera. The experience will be relaxed though slightly different than the Vespa. A lot will depend on the way you ride each. Good luck finding the Honda magic!

My environs no doubt make it easy to enjoy riding. But you pose an interesting question about riding in cities. I've wondered if it would be possible to enjoy riding as much in that chaotic situation. I've ridden in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and other smaller cities and it's kind of nuts. But I am always passing through and trying to get to some destination. I've never been in a city and just "going for a ride." I've spent a lot of time in cities both in the US and Europe but almost always on foot or using public transport. I've found exploring a city on foot, walking to a cafe or museum exciting. But I wonder if I could manage the same on a scooter? Seems improbable but I do wonder about it sometimes should I find myself living in a city...

It was a fine autumn day. We had a lot of them this year before the leaves just seemed to suddenly drop. I'm working towards getting ready mentally for winter. The older I get the steeper the climb. Hey Steve. I love the vibe of your channel. I never rode a Vespa... They remind me of an Electrolux vacuum cleaner from my childhood years... But a lot of people say that riding Vespas is an experience on its own because of the rigidity of their chassis. I have been riding a honda ruckus 50cc scooter for some years before I got my MST license and I had fun with it. I've been enjoying riding the Himalayan in the cold weather this November with heated gloves. It's crazy to see that there is no snow yet in Pennsylvania. Over here in Quebec winter is definitely showing up nowadays. Thanks for the videos!

Thank you for your kind words about my channel. I appreciate knowing when people respond to the things I post. I remember Electrolux vacuum cleaners. Are you referring to how well built they seemed? Like little metal tanks. I love the Honda Ruckus. I see one someday in my future when the travails of time make it impossible to manage my current scooters and motorcycles. Plus I've always loved how they look too. I had one once to review for a few days. Seemed like bombproof little machines. If you aren't familiar with "Lost with Mike" you should check out his website where he shares his Ruckus adventures crisscrossing North America. lostwithmike.weebly.com/ No snow here yet but I have been using the heated gloves. Winter is coming!
