I had a red 180SS in 1978. Was out on the open road cruising at about 55mph & it seized solid. Yes, the correct amount of oil was added to the fuel. Walked a few miles to a shop & bought an ice cream. Walked back to the Vespa wondering what to do. Pressed down on kick starter & it moved as normal. Gave it another kick & it fired up. I swear it went slightly better. Sold it about a year later in good running condition. New Zealand.

Yes same thing but I was young a new rider didn't know what was happening so ended up in a ditch found out the fuel tank was blocked up internally with gunk rode it when repaired for a year or so discovered Motorbikes handle a lot better with no seizing and throwing me off 😆

Hi from England. I had one of these (second hand) about 1967/68. The hardest thing I found with it was having to start on a hill, not a slope as the front came up very easily one or two person load. Flat out speedo reading regularly topped 75 mph and on cool autumn autumn mornings speedo readings just over the 80. Needed absolute regular maintenance but in the years I had it I covered at least 20000 miles per year, loved riding in the south of England. Love the channel

I have a lovely running SS supersport, 12500miles. Turned it over yesterday, ran smoothly. Has a new spark plug lead. Would consider selling. New Zealand. No rust, though extra carriers would be needing re-chroming soon.

Looking nice of you for you to have mentioned that in popular culture this is the same type of Vespa that was used by Haruko Harahara though hers was most likely modified

I have a 1977 Bajaj 150. These were assembled in India under the Bajaj brand name but had original italian parts from Vespa and Piaggio. Do you know the mods necessary to these 2-stroke engines to make them ‘fit to use’ per US and Canadian pollution/road safety norms? Thanks

Always preferred the GS's more bulbous and tapered side panels.

The rear wheel on my ss 180 seized on me recently. Luckily I was going around 40 mph when it happened as I skidded about 50 ft. Robot or anybody know what caused it?
@davidbedwell17163 жыл бұрын
Most likely something bridged the gap of the spark plug, i had this happen once and like you I was not travelling fast! but that was the reason.
@jedimasterchet3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying David! She still runs fine, but I’ll have the guys at the local shop check it out.

Is that one a customer's or is it for sale? I didn't realize they are that fast? Is that real speed or "vespa speedo speed" ?
@VespaMotorsport4 жыл бұрын
This one belongs to a customer, not for sale. That speed is real speed, but obviously fluctuates with the condition of the bike and other factors. Nice looking bike huh?
