Best video that I found for this battery change, very precise. Thanks for sharing! The Piaggio battery from the dealership had the same type battery here in Italy. They recommended (along with the instructions) to charge the battery on a battery charger made for scooters for about an hour or two, ensuring that the battery is fully charged and that it will last longer.

You’re welcome. No real precautions come to mind other than not touching something metal like the screwdriver to the positive and negative at the same time. You’ll get a shocking surprise! 😆 Parking garage should be fine. You can do it!

Should we pull those fuses before you put the new battery in? The last time I put in a battery in, it blew one of those fuses and was an even greater inconvenience than just replacing the battery.

Hi! I’m gonna buy new vespa which is 2014 S50 but I can find correct size of battery. It says yuasa Yb9-B but there is small differences between size that I find and the one I have dead now. How can I be sure about correct size?

Talk to your local Vespa dealer and provide them in the VIN number of the scooter. They can set you up with the right battery.

Rookie maintenance question: can the battery cells dry out and need distilled water added like auto batteries?

The batteries are lead acid so if they are totally dried out then you're going to either need to add new battery acid or (easier option) just get a new battery.

Great video, I was able to change it myself and save some money instead of going to a garage. I stripped a bolt since it was so tight like you mentioned, but a number 8 spanner did the job and loosened it. New battery came with new bolts so was all good. Thanks again!

The fuse is very easy to change. Just open the little compartment for it. I don’t have one in front of me but I think it comes with a 7.5amp fuse.
