Aminah A. Google on you tube Dr David Clark who has a video about the connection between thyroid problems/hashimotos and vestibular disorders. He is an amazing person who works as a functional( means they look for the actual cause not just deal with the symptoms)neurological practitioner and also helps people fix these problems. I have had low thyroid problems for 25 years and have done alot of research on this but have never heard someone put these things together as a cause and effect. At last someone who knows what they are talking sbout has explained alot of problems I have had for years with balance, dizziness, inner ear problems, loss off hearing, meniers etc etc and nobody knew. Gluten sensitivity, which I also have can cause thyroid hormone problems as I have proven time and time again. My inner ear problems, vestibular problems are so much less when not eating gluten which Im not eating ever again. Over the years when Ive had lapses and have eaten bits and pieces all those problems are start again. If you didnt know about this condition/cause effect listen to his video it coild change your life. Dr Clark is a wealth of knowledge. If you decide to get your thyroid checked through your doctor its vitalvto get thyroid antibodies checked too as that is what Hashimotos is a autoimmune condition. You can have normal thyroid hormones but your antibodies can be raised and that is the underlying cause of vestibular problems.

Rebecca see my reply to Aminah on this site about Dr David Clark connecting Hashimotos/hypothyroid/gluten to vestibular disorders. I just found the video on You tube today as I watch all his videos. Would be a good thing for you to listen to and look into too.

I get violent vertigo and sometimes vomiting. It takes hours for the spinning to stop. Even meclizine doesn’t help. The only thing that brings relief is Valium. I’ve been to two ENTs and I just yesterday got a referral to a ENT I found on your website that is relatively close to me. I hope I don’t have to wait long. This is hard to live with. Also ringing in ears and full feeling in right ear and hearing loss in same ear. Tinnitus of a lower pitch in right ear that comes and goes. And also neck pain with headaches in back of head. Your website helped me already (finding a specialist) and I want to thank you.

I went the the ER and they thought I was having a stroke. I had to research and find out for myself that it was a vestibular issue, and I 've heard the same thing from several others that had the same problem.

The "Dizzy Doc" mentions a very profound point which stuck with me "those who have bi-lateral damage or both ears are damaged.... which are sometimes due to certain antibiotics". How has this not been looked into yet?? I haven't found any readings on which antibiotics may cause this and I am desperate for answers to my disorder!

2:05 to 2:25, Dr. Hain is describing vertigo (BPPV) which does not seem to be right. Vertigo (spinning) sensation only lasts for few seconds to minutes due to crystals (otoconia) dislodged into one of the 3 semicircular canals. Person with BPPV can be treated with Canalinth re-positioning after which person would not have spinning sensation but might continue to experience decreased balance due to unilateral vestibular dysfunction.

I have a very serious vertigo. I had a consultation with a specialist in the field when I was in Canada and he told me that the problem is with my inner ear. He suggested physiotherapy and he said that I should see marked improvement after six months of vestibular training with a complete rehabilitation after one year. One year is nearly over and the vertigo has become more serious. I practically cannot walk without a walker as support as I feel that Iam falling down. I get the vertigo almost all the time now except when I am sitting or sleeping. I can no longer continue with vestibular training as the vertigo is acute. I do not whose door to knock now. Can I have some advice please?

I had calcium chrystals in my ear tube, that was my downfall. Took a chiropractor, doctor and finally a physiotherapist to suggest the Epley manouvre! Took two sessions and fixed

I had BPPV years ago, and various maneuvers helped. When this started, none of the maneuvers helped at all. With BPPV, looking up would make me spin. This is more like I’m walking on a boat or bus that is moving.

I’m trying to figure out how I’m the hell I’m supposed to still work with this. I drive 22 mi each way to be a supervisor at Home Depot. I’m scared of getting in a car crash, or getting hurt at work. I’m afraid they will think I am drinking. But there seems to be no way to get any kind of disability unless I have hearing loss. I don’t have loss, and in fact I seem to be way more sensitive to loud and sudden noises. Does anyone know what I can do to be able to still pay my bills with this condition??

I feel for you. I just called out of work again. It was less then a month ago that I called out for a whole week. I’ve been having vertigo while laying down since 3:30 am. I’ve been doing some side jobs close by to make money. I work at a vet and groom/ pet sit on the side. But sometimes I can’t even do that.
