My grandfather was a grunt and tunnel rat Gyrene through War 2. My dad was 80s Marine fighter pilot (F4). They would talk for hours but whenever I showed up curious about war, they were always just discussing golf...

My father flew in a squadron of F-4's known as 'THE WILD WEASEL'S' 1964-1966. They didn't like sending brothers to Vietnam at the same time so in 1968 when they called my uncle to go my father pulled strings to go back 1968-1970. He didn't want my uncle to go and see the horror's of the war. We lost my father in 1988 due to being around Agent Orange. I have his dog tags..uniform and flight jacket from his time in Vietnam.

My uncles were in Nam. One said we had enough troops there to walk hand and hand across the country. The other said it was fought in Washington and lost in Vietnam.

Great reaction Kit! Nic's videos are awesome ways of learning about the history we would have happily learned if only they taught it to us in school. 😀 And great end credit bits with Nic and Mrs. Electrician. 😀 I'm an old punk, so I know the greatest enemy of the average citizen's happiness is government bureaucracy. It's just fricking insane the BS politicians thought (and still think) that it was great to make people who weren't them have to deal with. Just fricking insane. I also think we really effed up when we made politician a profession, worse still a well paid one. Congressional politicians should be treated like soldiers. Start 'em at E-3 level with each of them having half a Quonset building as their home on the same secure military base. They get paid E-3 pay, they shop at the PX, they get taken to and from the Capitol on military transportation on a set schedule, and they live the same kind of regimented lives soldiers do. Also, their healthcare is free, but it's done by the military and that means that when they're busy you're on the same waiting lists that any other grunt would be on. Get reelected? Congrats, you're now an E-4. Pay increases but that's it. Reelected again? Welcome to E-5. Again? E-6. Again? E-7. Again? E-8. Again? Oh, I'm sorry. You've hit the mandatory retirement point. Thanks for your service, you're done. Once you're done, congrats! You get a pension equal to what a soldier who served as long as you did would and lifetime free healthcare through the VA just like everyone else who served their country. Oh, you want priority treatment? At best you're an E-8, not a four star general. Wait your turn in line like everyone else. Oh, and you're also subject to military justice codes too. You were sleeping with a foreign spy? Welcome to the wonderful world of military prisons while awaiting your trial on treason charges! Accepting bribes? Guess who is, at best, going to be dishonorably discharged and lose all benefits? That's right, YOU! Acting unbecoming your rank and position? That's not going to go well for you, though you probably won't get the firing squad at least. Oh, and these new rules would retroactively apply to those who served previously so get bent you jackwagons who never did a day's honest work in your lives. Yeah, I'm dreaming, but it's fun to dream. 😛

Man I hate that for you brother. My dad was (he ain't dead I just don't acknowledge him in any way) a straight dead beat who beat my mom when she was pregnant with me and dipped out when I was born. I was on my deathbed at 2 months old with Scarlett Fever and double pneumonia and he never cared to show up to the hospital that was 10 minutes from his house. Real piece of trash. It hurts me when I hear stories like these because I do know my doner and I've told him to his face that he's dead to me and it hurts because you never got the chance to meet your father and I would gladly trade mines place for yours just so you could have that chance to meet yours. God speed to you brother and thank you and your father for your service. I love our military service members and I especially love our Devil Dogs.

That sucks about your dad. I know what's that like my mom passed away from cancer when I was 2. I have no memory of her. My theory is Rome was destroyed because they used lead in their aquaducts which in turn cause people to go nuts and collapse of society
