When I was in 4th grade, I was terrified of the Lincoln assassination after watching a documentary and couldn't stand to see any depictions of it (so much so that my 5th grade teacher had to remove a "Lincoln Shot" poster from her classroom, or at least turn it around so I couldn't see it)... this just confirmed my fears 😟

Nah he didn't end anything, If you actually read the proclamation, it only applied to states currently in rebellion which he didn't control. Also like brandon said, slaves didn't get officially freed until the 13th amendment. Read up on the man from outside sources, he was an absolute turd

Brandon's history is kinda off. Northern states already made it illegal to have slaves, so he didn't have to force them to abide by the same law. Also, prohibition was literally a revoking a part of the ammendments. The constitution isn't the best thing ever imo
@ThyRavenWings Жыл бұрын
No he was right. Chattel Slavery was indeed banned in the north but Indentured Servitude (another kind of slavery) was still legal til the 13th amendment became law
@tnc7399 Жыл бұрын
@@ThyRavenWings not exactly. Slavery wasn't entirely legal. Sure some of it was but it was already shunned in the north. In the south it was so awful and extreme of course he would make it entirely illegal there
