StarCraft was supposed to be a warhammer40k game (Space Marines, Tyranids, Eldar), but there was some sort of licencing problem, so the StarCraft factions need to be changed to be 'legally distinct and different from GW IP", and we got what we got. So, Tychus getting armored up was technically the same thing as a Space marine, to begin with, only legally distinct. - but same in spirit all along. As for which I prefer, well the Gothic wins over Good Ol' Boy aesthetic, personally. I greatly love the fact that none of the tech priests really understand how the armor tech works anymore. It is all 20,000 years old, maintained through ritualistic rites and prayers to keep it running in quiet desperation, in these dark times. What's not to love?

The admec does understand how it works, it's just that the understanding is cloaked in ritual and mysticism. Most of their hummunahummuna stuff is active, effective maintenance (apply the holy WD40 to the joint, insert the sacred spark plug into the socket, etc.) and they fully understand it on a technical level; they just do the floofy religious gesture alongside it because they believe the machine spirit likes it.

That's actually a misconception StarCraft is based on 40k as inspiration but it wasn't meant to be a 40k game. That was warcraft which was meant to be a Warhammer game not star craft.

Just a bolt rifle. Storm bolters have 2 barrels side by side and a big box magazine usually.

An Ultrasmurf, the best of Space Marines? Hah! *snorts in Fenrisian* 😆 As much as I love the Starcraft version, this one wins for me. The atmosphere, that feeling of a knight from a holy order reciting his vows is just awesome!

My only issue with this is that it looks like it's done entirely by the mechanicum where as I'd assume the tech priests of the various chapters should be able to do handle it on their own. If nothing else I'd assume an ultramarine being suited up would be overseen by at least 1 person bearing ultramarine regalia. It's just a bit of a nit pick, this is cool and all but it just doesn't seem quite right.

It makes me wonder how the ritual would be different for the different chapters. Some are more or less religious than others. Black Templars vs White Scars, for instance. I can't begin to imagine what a Word Bearer's ceremony would look like.

People are allowed to like whatever they want, it's their right. But in my opinion, StarCraft is only a cheap copy of the great Warhammer 40K. StarCraft was supposed to be a WH game but became its own thing, which is fine. But nothing beats the original.
