Vet reunited with B-52 he flew in Vietnam 50 years ago

Capt. Kenneth Curry survived multiple tours in Vietnam. As Jeremy Hubbard reports, his dying wish is to reunite with the B-52 bomber he flew during the war.

0:31 7th Bombardment Wing, Carswell AFB in Fort Worth Texas. Mors Ab Alto. (Death From Above) My partner and myself launched that aircraft out of Carswell in 1983, when the D models were retired and we got H models at Carswell. My partner and I sent all of the remaining D models to the bone yard or to various bases to go on display like this one. It felt historic back then. The retirement of such an iconic B-52 model, the D model. One interesting note about that aircraft and ALL B-52s. Even though they have been around a long time, the now retired D models and even the current H models have VERY low hours compared to the airliners currently in service. Some of the older airliners still in service have 6 or 7 times as many hours as this aircraft on display. That aircraft was retired with about 15,000 hours on it. Barely broke in.

2:28 "Diamond Lil." This was the aircraft my room mate, Big John, was assigned to. Why "Big John?" He is 6' 7" tall. The Crew Chief's wife's name was Joanna, so I don't know where Lil came from. His mom......that must be it. ;) I wonder if she knows her name is still up there? This is the way the aircraft was marked when retired in 1983, except they didn't leave the Crew Chief's name on it. One of our D models on display at the Pima Air and Space museum in Tucson has the Crew Chief's name enshrined forever.

This B52 is only one of two that the tail gunner shot down a Mig jet during the Vietnam war.

Yes, it is the same guy, but I believe that interview is from 2016, even though it was posted more recently. If you google him, there's news from the Air Force Times that talks about him visiting the plane that is behind him in the interview.
