A Veteran in need gone, over $1500. Not blaming the officers but lots of people let him down. My uncle moved his vet uncle (US Army Captain in Vietnam) a few states over to be close to him and family and put him in a care facility for dementia. Applied to VA for the housing benefit. They gave him the runaround, didn't get it (even with certified mail tracking), stalling, etc. After a year the uncle passed and the VA said, well, he's deceased. Case closed. So almost $100k out of his pocket to take care of a Vet that the VA couldnt care less about.

Poor guy, but he sadly did not give the officers another choice. He was actively coming at them with a knife, which normally warrants lethal force, but the officers opted for non-lethal. Its vile. Especially when govt can’t seem to give enough handouts to immigrants but our own ppl are suffering unable to make ends meet. I think mass deportations need to happen and all that money saved from not supporting them anymore should go to people like you and so many other actual citizens that can’t afford the cost of housing groceries, etc. not to mention getting rid of the millions of immigrants we don’t need means housing will actually come back down to a reasonable price.

Probably the wrong place for this but what should I think if my doctors told me I had COPD and IPF, but then later told me just adult asthma, put me on all the COPD medications (3 of em) and can't confirm IPF or ILD for 2 yrs but then proceeded to hide and refuse to disclose all Lung scans for those 2 years , just to tell me 3 whole years later I have COPD and still won't answer about the lung scars? Should I believe the first doctors, the second or the third? Why would they give and take away terminal diagnosis so easily? As if it's a joke?

I get that feeling, too. I was also a veteran of Viet Nam as he was. War is what we did, it's not necessarily who we are. People make choices no matter what their life's history is. This is what he knew, knives, guns, uniforms, military, officers. This was familiar to him, he could relate and interact with uniformed police. I think he knew what he was doing.

Sounds like he's been in contact with courts and the law before, how do you know that this wasn't the absolute last option? They tased him, they didn't shoot him. When all you have is a hammer, everything is treated like a nail; This looks like a police force that uses every tool first, and the hammer last. That sounds like improvement to me.

I’m sure the officer who had to tase him is blaming himself even tho he shouldn’t. He did what he had to do. 99.9% of officers who have to use ANY force which causes the person to die doesn’t want to but they know it must be done Prayers to all involved and thank you for understanding

They really didn’t wanna shoot him or be violent with him the taser was sadly the only choice. After one of the worst wars in history (due to the lack of distinction of military and civilian targets especially) he prolly was messed up in the head a bit and went senile in his later years. Terrible fate and this is a tragedy not just another pos garbage bag the police had to handle. If so ,he woulda lost his career a long time ago I’m sure. Good job on the officers quick thinking and good communication they really tried to save his life and that’s the least they could do for a veteran dudes mind was prolly gone and what was left was more than less a shell of what was. So count y’all’s blessings your mom or dad could lose their mind in old age as well and a tragedy for anyone is a stones throw away
