Thanks for the review Jon! Even with all the new wheels just lately the Sherman S is still a contender. BTW, unusual pronounciation of "Patton" you have there.

Hey everyone, links are in the description ^^ thanks for dropping in! *correction - LYNX is 4kg LESS than the Sherman S 40 vs 44kg* *correction - the seat was mistakenly called a grizzla seat but is in fact part of the Clark pads set*

Glad all these new wheels are being released during Northern Hemisphere “Winter,” I can skip on them until Spring. My S is going strong, around 4500 issue-free miles on it. The, what is it, Shinko brand stock knobby is a great tire choice too. Takes care of my off-road needs. I find myself carving lots to keep it round when on the roads. That would be a complaint, but I love to carve. There aren’t too many cars where I live so I am able to. I don’t care for speed that much, just have a little range anxiety given if work may pull the plug on letting me charge there I would be using a good amount more of the battery every day as it is a 50 mile round trip. It isn’t too big a deal. Most days I JUST charge at work anyways and usually have 20% left, if I can charge it up to around 100V.
@jonoeuc
@jonoeuc 8 ай бұрын
perfect, wait and see how they shake out! I presume it's the Shinko 244? i've heard it mentioned a few times as a popular knobby. That's a pickle but at least with with some speed management 50miles shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Jon, thanks for the video. You mention that seat as being the Grizzla seat, but it appears to be the Clark Pads seat if I am not mistaken?

Im getting a Sherman s in a month or two... It's a great wheel, tried and tested, and perfect if you don't race etc. Also, in my country- for commute on public Roads we are not alowed to go Faster than 25kph anyway ... So it's more than enough power and itl last gor years and years

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to your suspension maintenance. A little over a 1000 miles on my S and I was hearing some clunk coming from the bearings. I avoid water as much as possible, I don't do any crazy drops and I don't ride my S in the rain at all. Anyways ewheels had me send my motor in for inspection and repair. Waiting for it to come back. Overall I love the S, but I have to admit it's disappointing paying over $4k to have this issue so soon.

Great job, as always. I bought the Patton and do a lot of (mostly) pretty rugged off-road riding and must say I regret getting the smaller diameter wheel. Patton is OK, but it does get upset with larger, loose rocks. And longer distance is probably more tiring than it would have been on the slightly larger wheel. It (Patton) does have pretty good range though.

Awesome update. Been having so much fun on my own Sherman S during the summer, but sadly is getting cold and wet here during winter season. Is your mileage 6000 km or miles? I saw your title was 6000km but the Testimonial part says 6000 miles.

Cheers! That's good to hear. I know what you mean, much harder for me to ride when it gets below about 13degC here and rain makes it tough. My distance is 6000km the testimonial from Darren is 6000miles // 9656km (huge!) hopefully that clarifies it

Nice one Jono! It’ll be some wheel that ends up being better overall than the ‘S’, so don’t be in too big a hurry to ‘upgrade’, in case it turns out to be a retrograde step. Looking forward to your kinetic 2 review. Atb from ‘S’cotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Still love my Sherman-S after 3000 km, i can't think of another wheel that would replace it, no need for more speed but still would be curious to try the Lynx an V14, but i know the Sherman is the best do it all wheel for my use, i like doing long distances without worrying about range, also have a fast adjustable charger from 2-20A that i keep with me most of the time, it can charge from 40 to 90% in about an hour at 15A and even less on a 20A outlet, i'll have to sillicone the top cover too because some water got in when i've washed the wheel, apart from that and the bearings change, it is very reliable and strong i do a lot of offroad with the Shinko 244 Thanks for your time and quality content !
@jonoeuc

Hey Mate, good to hear! Same, I'm always curious to try other wheels but very content. Nice charge times, I don't go that far to carry one. I'm probably going to DIY a larger seat but are you still enjoying the moto seat you installed? Also, are you still running tubeless? holding air? Yea 100% want peace of mind when it comes to water. I would like to try the 244. It'd be my pick for a full knobby. You too mate, Cheers!

@@jonoeuc Still tubeless, lose about 1 psi per week, i really like the seat i can sit for extended period of times and don't feel any discomfort (look for CMX250 passenger seat) the Shinko 244 is a good compromise, the noise pitch is less annoying than stock and have more grip on and offroad !

What size would you be getting on the Heidenau? 90/90-14? Also looking to upgrade but I’ve never bought tires for something to small before 😅
@jonoeuc
@jonoeuc 7 ай бұрын
I'd go 80/90-14. Here's a comment from my buddy on a V11 "I am very happy with the K66. I rode 2,000 miles on it so far. It's handled all the terrain without issue. It doesn't have the same trail grip as the Shinko 244 that I had before it, but based on what you see it should be expected. I still want to warn you that the 244 picks up gravel. If you don't have a lot of clearance under the fender it could cause an accident." Some have issue that it still train tracks and darts around grooves in the concrete. this is the tradeoff with a round profile tyre hybrid or street tyre. Other options are Shinko 241 or 244 Sherman S rider "I have used the 244 on my Sherman Max I had. It wasn't bad. Turned well. It's a hard tire that seems to never whereout. 241 is what I use on the Sherman-S now and after running it through gravel roads. It gets better and better. Still a little hard and not as grippy as the Golden boy version on my Patton. If I could find a softer trials competition tire that would be my go to. The 244 is also heavy. And feels nearly indestructible " "I was using the sn26 urban snow tire but it's hard to get here. That's my favorite on the Sherman-S. Good grip everywhere. Rolls quite. Turns great." Hope that helps, cheers Jono

How was the kangaroo? And are the hydraulic seals easy to order if you need to replace? I noticed that you didnt fix the leak and just add more oil...

@jonoeuc 7 ай бұрын
The roo disappeared off into the bushes. While I was left picking up myself and euc pads! Surprised since it was a hefty T-bone. I haven't sourced the seals - if you find them let me know! Apparently just cleaning them can fix the leak. I didn't modify mine in any way nor open them to add oil. cheers, jono edit: I found these, unsure if they fit. There is a part number on the seals so unless someone knows, we'll have to pull off the old ones to see the number. fastace.com/products/fastace-alx13rc-oil-seal-and-dust-wiper-seal

where did you get the bolt torque specs from?
@jonoeuc
@jonoeuc 5 ай бұрын
I had some values from my buddy Jon Wall. Some replacement bolt bags from Leaperkim had the torque listed. Then my judgement on the rest using reference charts. Those were the values used on my re-assembly to ensure they didn't damage my threads. However since most of the threads are aluminum the values should possibly be reduced even further. Do you have any further suggestions? Cheers

I don’t understand why you ended up with the wheel pressed to one side?
@jonoeuc
@jonoeuc 6 ай бұрын
the wheel alignment is determined early on the re-assembly. When the mudguard and internal suspension bracket is screwed into the motor/hub. I over twisted these parts initially. checkout my animation that helps explain it. let me know if you still have questions! kzbin.infoZQmxh8WZF6M?feature=share
