Awesome! That dog will help him greatly. There is something magical about a dog's capacity to bring out something good and healthy in us. I'm very glad this vet got a new best friend. I'm very sorry for the loss of your fiance. My condolences. Also, and very sincerely, thank you for your service to our nation. 🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸

Great work, both people and dogs are saved. So glad to hear that also Pitbulls etc are chosen, as they often get left behind and murdered which they do not deserve.

7 months seems so young! But otoh it's pretty smart to give the person who has already dealt with so much gets a dog who is going to be with him for a long while, isn't it...

She completed her basic training and is ready for handler/team training. She won't be considered a full fledged service dog until she's been in training for about two years.

@marie-roseverwerft4354 жыл бұрын
I think the dogs should only be made available for people that do not only need them but also love dogs and are prepared to give them the best of lives. It should not only be about people needing them, as I know overhere in Belgium that there are people that got a service dog, but not at all deserve them.

I am not a war veteran, yet I have suffered with PTSD sense my late 30's. I don't feel as if my life has any meaning or direction as I rarely go outdoors. I feel like I have no way out. Trapped and feel like giving up!
@dindinprivate34777 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Lafon - While dogs are a big help to most people with PTSD, they can be very expensive. There are other methods - companion groups (others with the same problem, therapy, self motivated insight and so on. I wish you the best of luck.
@AtarahDerek7 жыл бұрын
You should look into a service dog, then. But be sure to do a LOT of research first. Either hire a professional to help you train a rescue dog, or go through a non-profit that places service dogs with handlers. There are a lot of evil people out there who will scam you out of tens of thousands of dollars, so scrutinize every offer and deal. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Training a rescue with the help of a pro is probably your best bet.

Sad thing is, you will outlive your service dog. I had a PTSD service dog for 10 years, he was my best fried and constant companion. I honestly would be here right now if it wasn't for him. Then he passed away. Wrecked my world.
@danoarmstrong25975 жыл бұрын
@Lost Hero It is devastating. However, knowing full well it will end in tears and heartache, I have picked out a German Shepherd puppy, visit him once a week, and in four more weeks, we bring him home. Just visiting a pack of puppies climbing all over you, does the soul good.

How could he get a service dog , if he’s never had proper training on how to work with a service dog . And most service dogs need to be at least 2yrs before there able to start working
@carolannetitmus88786 жыл бұрын
No they do not!
@staypawsitive10025 жыл бұрын
Usually they can start training at 8 weeks but shouldn’t really be labeled as a full service dog til 2 years of age when proper X-rays can be done on hips etc.

She's considered in training. Service puppies can join a team when they're five to 18 months old. They are considered in training for about two years. But they have enough training after about six months or so that they can exercise their public access rights.
