This scene should have been longer and Thunderstruck should have gone with them into Battle.

I want to believe with all of my heart that the lines that were said by the vets were adlibbed. They feel too real

Why do i begin to shed tears seeing this scene. A shout to our military!! And there sacrifices! I can't wait to enlist!

Say what you want about this movie, the one thing it gets dead on right is the determination and fighting spirit of the United States Navy. If the USS Missouri had a license plate it would read USN-FAFO.

That should be the designation of all Iowa class battleships. The only ship to sink an island

I remember watching the news one day about the Missouri being towed out to sea for this movie. It brought a tear to my eye. I remember the Missouri being put back into service for the Gulf War if anything to provide the "shock and awe" when the main guns were fired. What such a spectacle of brute strength this old lady must have provided. The scene the Missouri starred in in this movie was the best part of the entire movie. As cheesy and absurd this movie was, seeing the Missouri given the respect she so deserved was humbling. Those main guns really did some work on the alien ship - unrealistic as it was - and watching the old sailors taking pride in operating that ship was a sight to behold. And for now... the Missouri is back in her place among the great battleships. I eagerly wait for the next alien-invasion that will be necessary to bring her out of retirement once again. :)

You know. I know the Iowa's are museum ships, but you can't tell me that some mad lads in R&D don't have plans to refit and set these lovely ladies up for full modern war fighting if necessary.

All engines ahead flank. Sounds good. Better to be outbound from Pearl first.

Those were my first thoughts too when I saw the movie.....yeah, thanks for running over the USS Arizona and beaching the Missouri at the visitor's center with that command.

Argument: There's no way a skeleton crew could get a decades old ship up and running in less than a week, much less a day. Counter-argument: They've been secretly keeping her ship shape all this time for this exact moment!

Agreed, I had a thought that off camera/prior to the events of the movie the veterans were already in Oahu for a reunion and after hearing about what happened they all got the the USS Missouri and started prepping her for this moment.

Although Missouri and the rest of the Iowas are retired and museum ships, they still fight on in World of Warships
@hellhound138911 күн бұрын
Keep in mind even though it's a museum ship she has to be kept in proper operating order because she may be called back into service. It's actually happened

Watching that long hallway light up tho!... And lighting the oil-fired boilers up, steam hissing from opened valves and the turbines whir to life. And cutting the anchor chains are no joke Not to mention the massive props spinning up

we all know this isn't realistic, but the infinite coolness of such a magnificent battle machine allows us to suspend disbelief and enjoy the glory that is an Iowa class battleship.

I served on a small frigate which had two, 600 psi steam boilers. To avoid metal fatigue it took FIVE TO SIX HOURS to warm up the steam pipes and turbines of the main engine. I don't even want to think about EIGHT boilers and four turbine engines of a battleship.

This is the ship that prompted me to research military history and naval ship history the USS MISSOURI BB-63 nicknamed " MIGHTY MO". It truly is a shame these mighty behemoths are obsolete cause they truly are magnificent works of deadly art. The Iowa Class battleships were quoted as being " gorgous ladies if a little mean".
