Can you please make a video explaining sleep apnea secondary to TBI? How it's related. I suffer from TBI, PCS, migraines, memory loss, depression, social anxiety and have been given a cpap machine from VA after evaluation. Thanks for the video/info.

important note; SMC (t) is not the limit of VA compensation. SMC (K) for each loss of use is added on to or (stacked) on and above SMC (t)

Thanks for the information, and definitely have some of these symptoms, some that have come on and worsen over the years, I'm trying to get a reevaluation currently for a rating increase and this time they are actually sending me thru TBI as well as PSTD screening where as before they briefly touched on these and tried acupuncture and a memory training, both that has no lasting effects. Anyhow, I have a C&P coming up and I'm laying it all out there with hope.

I was a 81mm mortarman and involved in a military vehicle accident back in 2011, which fractured my L1, L2 as I was thrown out the back. Not once did I do any examinations on my head. The only thing ever looked into was my back and regular x rays. Two months later I deployed as a SAW gunner. About three or four months on deployment later I found myself extremely depressed and suicidal on my first deployment. Nothing has changed. A nurse practitioner in a small VA office in California did a test on a piece of paper back in 2013 as part of my C&P exam and concluded I did not have tbi, go figure. I was persuaded to file by myself and was awarded ptsd, tinnitus, back and knees. My ears still ring non-stop, I have hearing aids, Bluetooth sleep pillow, 2021 sleep apnea diagnosed with cpap, migraines, severe ptsd, no longer able to obtain good grades, employment, self employment affected, confused, memory is impaired, my neck kills me all the damn time, I need sunglasses most of the days, headaches and find myself in a confused state most of the time. What should I do?

2:00 Yea that sounds like me. Weird how so many people get that I can't remember things in the VERY short term. Then there are things that I have done and I did the math on it, 8,456 times (RJ-45 terminations ) and I STILL can't remember the color code of the wires! It got to the point that I don't work alone and have someone just check all my work to make sure it was all wired right It's not ideal for any employer. I was lucky to get hired on by KCI communications for a spell. And have a good team that sort of got I'm not all there. Without good people looking after me? I don't know what I would have done. I had no idea that my 3 head poundings in the military had so much of an effect on my career both in an out of service. the strangest thing is? I don't think I ever actually grew up. Now I know this sounds kind of strange for some of you folks but I don't recall having like that well kind of like how all my other friends decided like not to do things that were normal for kids. I still enjoy doing models I still enjoy drawing and you know the weird thing is that I know I'm 43 but I sure as heck don't feel like I'm 43. In fact I have trouble remembering where all the time has gone by. and I definitely noticed that I'm not like other people and this really shows because most of my actual friends are around 18 to 25. And that's kind of strange. and all my old friends from the military tell me I'm literally exactly the same person that I was that they knew close to 12 years ago. to me and in my mind it seems like that was literally maybe last month or last week or something. have all the benefits of joining the military? The best part and the best benefit I got was all my lifelong friends that I got wow in. That's probably the greatest benefit I ever got from the military.

I’m AD. Hit my temple on a black hawk in OFS19, lost consciousness. Got back to stateside and told my PCMs that I had a TBI and that’s when my headaches started. It’s in my STRs. Now I have MH diagnosis stemming from non combat stresses. How likely am I to receive separate ratings for TBI and Headache/Migraines when I file my BDD claim.
@metalarteestsliger9321
@metalarteestsliger9321 Жыл бұрын
Migraines are rated seperate from TBI or secondary to TBI, or separate from TBI depending on medical evidence. For instance STR shows historical evidence of migraines prior to TBI. If psychological evaluation states “at least as likely as not “ migraines are associated with non combat stressor then yes it would be separate from TBI. VA does often lump them together, requiring an appeal. My advice would be to file HLR with evidence of separation first. If that fails go BVA. If evidence is new may I suggest a supplemental claim with said new evidence

I don’t understand the VA. I was diagnosed with TBI about it was combined with my PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc… they also diagnosed me with Major Neurological Disorder. But I wasn’t given SMC R or T even with “late stage dementia”. Which I don’t think is right. The problem is that I had cancer, exposed to toxic chemicals, a TBI and PTSD which all can cause major nuerocognitive disorder.

Can the C&P examiner diagnose you for TBI? I don't have a diagnosis for TBI. I was encouraged by the VA Rater to put in a claim for TBI. I was hit over the head and robbed at gunpoint.This is in my service records.The rater was evaluating my claim for fatigue syndrome, migraines, vertigo, dizziness, and PTSD. I was notified today that I would be scheduled for a C&P soon. The VA rater has actually deferred all my claims except for PTSD which they did increase to 50%. These were supplemental claims.

I had a vehicle accident while in the Army( basic training) with a loss of consciousness. I did not suffer visual injuries but I definitely had mental and physical that at the time I kept quiet about because I didn't want to appear weak and have to repeat the training cycle again. My headaches and joint pain in my legs and arms started to the point I failed my PT test given shortly after the accident. I have issues concentrating and completing tasks today. How is it possible to service connect the accident to today, without medical evidence for treatment for the accident I have the incident reports that prove the accident took place?

Can you get a record of the vehicle accident for evidence. Even if this was on base and PMO was involved there may be a record. You may want to file a compensation claim and put VA to task with verification of accident. The VA C&P doc may take your testimony as evidence too.

Thank you for doing this vid. I have TBI and PTSD. The VA lumped my TBI rating(40) into my PTSD rating. How can I get these into two different ratings? They have different codes. TBIs were not a thing back in the 90s.
@toddwyndham7009
@toddwyndham7009 2 жыл бұрын
Not surprising, anything they can do to keep the rating as low as they can. We have to remember they are continually looking for medical evidence to lower veterans ratings. That’s why I’ve been to scared to file a new or increased % claim for fear of being reduced from the 80% I have. Be careful and good luck 🍀

I thought they lumped my TBI and PTSD too. Then I requested my c-file received it and they were not lumped together like e-benefits was stating. Still rated separately but on the ptsd side it stated with TBI residuals. Which is a possible good thing if they change the rules for ptsd.

So when they rate 1, 2, or 3 on each of the four things, how is the total determined? Lets say the first is 40%, the second is 10%, the third is 40% and the last is 40%. Is it determined using VA math?

ive been in the army for 13 years so far. im still in the army right now im going to appointments that i should have made a long time ago. when i was younger i never made appointments or went to sick call when i was injured because i didn’t want to look weak. very stupid i know. now that im older i realize how stupid i was. anyway im at 13 years right now if i go the full 20 then i can get my pension and a va disability check right? what if i get a new job as a truck driver after the army? will they cancel my va disability check because im now working? because obviously im not disabled if im working at a new job. because i would like to get 3 separate payments 1. my pension for serving 20 years. 2. my va disability payment. and 3. my payment for my new job as a truck driver or mechanic. is this possible?

Yes you can do all 3. But you have to get a rating of 40% or more to get separate pension and disability compensation. You can work also. Only TDIU has a work and salary restrictions. I suggest reading the 38 CFR top to bottom many times to learn the process. For additional information watch here, combat Craig, and Dwayne Kimble leave no vet behind.

My mom is also my Caregiver and she is in the VA program too. My claim was denied and also denied again on the higher level review, it is currently in line at the BVA. The reason for denials were the same, that my mom was NOT A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL. But it dies not say that in the cretiera, " Regualr A&A ". So what is it?? Thanks
