From the Ground Up: Veteran Shares How Sobriety Journey Provided New Purpose

While serving in the Army and Indiana National Guard, Kris drank alcohol as a way to bond with fellow service members. He continued to drink after service while attending college. After multiple car wrecks, he attended rehab, which started his sobriety journey. In treatment, he learned about tools such as mindfulness and calming techniques to keep him grounded. Now, he finds joy in doing good for others, like cooking food for his community.

I'm a Vietnam War veteran dealing with PTSD. I was self medicating using alcohol. It was messing up my life something awful and when our 4 year old son asked why I was being so crazy I decided right then and there that I would quit drinking. I now am 35 years sober and enjoying life. Welcome home brother and keep up the good work.
