Thank you for doing this product review. There's so many machines to choose from so it can get overwhelming. Also thank you for the bonus rocks you sent with the Agate sailboat. The boat is really awesome by the way❤

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your facetting videos. I bought an old Fac-ette machine with all the accessories but I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Used machines are hard to find in Canada but I got lucky. Interested to see how your new machine performs.

I have been working on a kit to make this model fully functional and including all the missing equipment. Should launch in a couple weeks--faceting for under 500 all in. It is an incredible value for what it is, just needs a few more things

I purchased a vevor gem machine recently as well. For it being an inexpensive 6” flat lap. The model I got was the one with a cast iron base. The one without any light and pump. Works well for a lap. You model came with a stop on the angle display. Mine did not and so I had the rig my own stop. Your model having forward/reverse with a speed control is nice. My model has no speed control. Just on/off. If you want to facet then your model makes more sense with speed controls. If you just want a cheap 6” flat lap then there is an even cheaper vevor model

Interesting. I have made my own dop transfer jig out of tongue and groove oak flooring. I cut a notch out of the groove side and used elastic bands and that worked just fine. I don't see a micro adjustment on the pole. That is a problem. Probably a pipe with a nut on the end (finer the thread the better) to sit on the collet would be a very big help in mirco adjusting during polishing. I grew up just down the road from where you are now. I try to get out for a little rockhounding trip each time I get down that way. Have fun. = Ray

That's interesting. They are expensive. I found one on amazon that was pretty affordable. There is a micro adjustment on the mast. I didn't do a good job of going into detail

@@RockhoundingLifeCool. The other question I might have is can that machine approach the girdle of a faceted stone without modification.

Thats too bad that theydidnt include a xfer jig and the other lap discs is common. Most of the jigs you have there seem really big too and you may want to invest in some smaller dop sticks. Not everyone can afford to facet that large of a gemstone! Lol. For the most part what ice seen and heard from other faceters you can cut with the 600 disk and you need the type of polishing disks that you use for each different kind of material! Some have used a cdrom for polishing and others use a tin or a copper disk. Which have to be conditioned and you will need polishing paste or the tppye and grade of diamond powder you need for polishing and the grade of machine oil you need to suspend it in. Some use saewung machine oil. I suggest watching a few if justin k prims videos! He really explanes his process well for the beginner ad well as the more advanced faceter. Congrats on the faceting machine! It looks like a decent machine for the price! And usually they are priced way out if new want to be faceters price range. Everything is in this hobby! Being handicapped now i xant go collect material anymore and i can't polish rocks either! So maybe i can facet gemstones thrn! And that is an entry level price that many can afford. Not me of course but nany others! Lol! Thanks Jason! ❤

I bought the same machine its a good price but to facet your going to have to do allot of work to it nothing is machined for accuracy. I found the table top was concave with one side of the tower track higher than the other also the base of the tower is not machined so I surface ground the table and base so the tower runs 90 degrees on the whole track, the table and disc are not parallel so I shimmed the motor it would have been nice if Vevor drilled and tapped holes so you could have opposing screws to the motor screws that way you could adjust for level. One issue I have not been able to fix is the disc has a wobble not that you can see buy can be felt with a dop in the quill, it appears to stem from the collar on the motor it has 1 set screw believe two set screws may fix it. Also the aluminum disc need to be sanded level. There is play in the sleeve of the quill that transmits to the end of the dop at about 1 to 2 mm that I put hooks on the quill with a rubber band that will hook to the base of the tower and keep the quill tight to the bottom of the play. I found the protractor pretty useless and bought a digital angle meter there is also a problem with the fine tune it does not secure the quill so when the stone is against the disc the quill can lift off the fine tune which causes a bevel to be ground so I use a rubber band to pull them together. The height adjust on the tower I had to run upside down to the numbers for various reasons which you will find out. I made a sleeve to go in between the degree wheel and pointer so I can spin the quill 360 degrees. I also use shims on the bottom of the tower for the girdle grinds the adjuster is to large to allow for girdle grinding. I also put another cooling fan in because the unit gets really hot. There are other things but I am getting long winded.

I found a guy on the internet that makes kits for this machine which corrects a lot of these issues and more and allows you to cut a stone. He is sending me one and i am going to make a video on it.

@@RockhoundingLife Nice, I'm sure with a little time and money it will be ok for simpler grinds { under 50 or so facets} and still way cheaper than better quality machines. I have not tested mine with the corrections I made on any gems stones just some rocks and its grinding fairly well but still has a few issues. I don't want to waste any gem stones until I am sure it will grind decent.

Well... I'm going to hold off any real comment till I see how it works out for you. I see (and hear) too many folks just all over something, or do a "Kill the messenger" scenario before anyone has truly spent some time with a 'unknown budget' device.
