Really good video!! I finished mine Saturday and tested it all out and it works great. These mods are really valuable and take this sandblaster from a frustratingly mediocre sandblaster to a really solid and robust sandblaster that works really well. And the best part is these mods really aren't expensive, especially considering the value you get from them. Also, really good job on explaining everything step by step. That details on the steps and "how to" can't be underestimated. All the parts have links so you know you're using the exact same parts. Literally all you've got to do is click on the links to get the parts and watch the step by step video. You nailed this video! The only step I improvised on was the hole in the side of the cabinet for the grommet/air hose. I didn't have a ratchet knockout hole punch so I just used a hole saw which was much cheaper (if you don't have a knockout punch) and the hole saw did the job just fine

Okay, here is my 5 cents worth. I have the same unit with the Dust Collector also from Vevor. Before installing my dust collector onto the cabinet, I installed an RV gate valve that is usually used for the Sewer hose connector, with a clear 45-degree sewer connector which I cut the end off in the angle of the cabinet. I drilled a hole through the side of the cabinet the same diameter of the clear 45 PVC connector. Then I use a joint flange PVC connector to mate it to the cabinet with a flange rubber gasket. The dust collection sits higher unto the side connector to compensate for the added on Gate-valve and 45 clear tubing. So when I want to empty the dust collector, I just open up the Gate-valve by sliding the valve open and the media will just flow from the Collector down through the 45 clear adapter and into the cabinet. The clear adapter will tell me when the Collector is empty. I hope this help make the experience more enjoyable.

Great video James! I’ve always gotten the best results with glass beads. If you want an even finish on your blade with absolutely no hand finishing, you can’t beat it! 80 grit is what I use.

The Vevor sand blaster comes with a fitting and a cap to plug that back hole. It also states to put screws with nuts in the 4 screw holes. You didn't need to make another part for closing that original dust collector hole...

Trying to educate myself on what small cabinet to buy these days so this came in handy. Probably too big, but I learned something so thanks. As an aside and yeah, some of you will get riled up but it's interesting how Chinese companies are sponsoring pretty much every 'Merican maker these years. Especially on more "gritty" fabricator type channels where a lot of the viewers love to hail American made stuff and blame China and the recent administration for pretty much everything bad. Not saying you share those opinions, just that if I look at enough comments those views are abundant. Whoever the people behind Vevor is, they are smart. In no time, they became "the" brand in the maker community. They have identified exactly what tools are needed by many and then they go find local suppliers and rebrand it all. Get it to the KZbinrs and wait for the orders to come in. It's bascially Chinese online Harbor Freight. Smart.

Great video, I’ll be very interested in how the 3d prints hold up. From using industrial blasters slightly larger than this they can do a lot of damage very quickly. Would be interested to see a comparative video of various blast media’s for different tasks. (Paint removal, rust removal, best finish etc) Something I’ve had many a conversation about when blasting equipment in the past

Thank you for the great video. Just used all your affiliate links and I'm in the process of building it now. Almost done too. Got some questions though. I don't see links for certain items. Maybe I'm missing something though. At 2:46, you have 3 pieces in your hand. Do you have a link to the middle piece. The 90 degree piece. And at 3:38, do you have a link to that black piece on the water catch. Also, regarding that hole that you cut to big for the hose that feeds the blast media. What size should it have been. I assume just a half inch right. Just want to make sure I understand it correctly. I've never done anything like this so it's all new to me. Thank you for your help and thanks again for the video. Your time lapse video helped with the assembly too.

Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed the build and got something out of this video. Sorry I missed that one! Could have bought it locally... don't remember. Here is a link to the 1/4 90 - amzn.to/3WunAr4 I'll put it in the video description as well for future builders. at 3:38 are you talking about the 90 degree 3/8'' to 1/4'' reducer 90? I couldn't find one on amazon, but you may be able to use a reducer like this one - amzn.to/3YrhMkv I'm not exactly sure on the appropriate hole size, but based on the CAD file I made to fit the grommet I'd guess it would be about 0.45 to 0.55 inches.... ~0.5 is probably the right measurement since the hose was really tight going though my grommet. Cheers and good luck!

I've found 80 grit glass bead to look good on copper and brass if a matte finish is what you're after. I have no way to test this, but I'd imagine you'd get a little work hardening on the surface of the metal.

Broski, if you're really worried about air dryness (say for a plasma), look into intercoolers (between the compressor and tank), and get a triple filter/reg (solids, liquids, desiccant dryer), and then a motor guard. Esp down here in the Lone Star State, you need to curb the humidity as much as you can.

As for blasting media, depending on how specific you need to be ("per the print", ie shot peaning, glass beads, etc) get an industry standard media. Otherwise, black diamond has been a great go to "parts cleaner" media for my purposes. Although, sieved play sand (rejecting the large stuff), set out in the sun for a few days and turned over to dry, has worked well for me too.

I stumbled upon this video looking for info on a sand blast cabinet. I have no knowledge of knife making. That tumbler you have running off of your 2" belt sander is pretty slick. Is that your original idea, or is it common in the knife making community?

@@RedBeardOps Great idea - I don't have a tumbler, but I do have a mini lathe which I put a brushless motor on and I can run that really, really slow (down to 50-60rpm). Since I may or may not need a tumbler for a small product line I have coming up, before I spend money on one, I think I will make a simple container out of PVC tube and test it in the lathe. Thanks for stirring my mind:)

Dear Sir, I bought the regulator off amazon and one side says 'out', the other says 'in'. If I hook it up as you have, the 'out' goes to the compressor. Is this correct? Does it matter? Thank you...matt

The assembly can be rotated. And gauge moved if needed. The "IN" is your feed from the compressor and the "OUT" goes to your cabinet. The direction does matter.

1. That blasting gun is crap. Get yourself a proper gun and foot pedal. I have the combo from easstwood and it works well. Don't buy cheap ebay guns, they are crap. 2. Replace all your 1/4 inch hoses with 1/2 inch; you are loosing allot of flow in 1/4 inch. 3. There is no perfect media; it depends on the job. Aluminum/brass/bronze clean-up glass bead works well. For rust steel grit/bead mixture works well. For paint removal even on delicate plastic parts, plastic blasting media works well. If you just want to eat through stuff; then SiC works well. 4. Add a 120 to 220 mesh screen under the glass window; it will protect the glass bettor than plastic liner; plastic liner will etch/get dirty way too fast.

I have a 50L 2.5hp compressor would it still be best if I swap to everything being 1/2? I’ve read online using 1/4 for the gun is beneficial. As it makes it more controlled & accurate.
@ghffrsfygdhfjkjiysdz
@ghffrsfygdhfjkjiysdz 7 күн бұрын
@Near2Future bigger hoses are always better, however the 1/4" hoses become a bottleneck at higher flow rate. So, the improvement depends more on jet size than compressor size. Going to 1/2 hoses with small jet sizes will be less of an impact than doing so with larger jet size. Bigger jet uses more air, do you run out of air in small compressor faster.

If you add on your cabinet a pressure sand blaster the results are amazing the cut sand power is x10 and olso your work time is faster x10 and you dont kill your air compressor to work continuously trust me i have the same dust collector and custom big cabinet this company has olso a pressure sand blaster
