This is a new series I've started explaining the basics of VEX for algorithmic design / procedural modeling which I'm using in daily basis.
In this third episode I'm explaining the basics of parameter and how you can use them with VEX coding.
I've also started a Patreon, it would be great if I could get your support to continue creating tutorial contents.
00:00:00 Intro / What is a parameter?
00:01:26 Parameter types
00:22:06 Referencing parameters
00:32:41 Accessing to parameter with VEX
01:03:10 Ramp parameter with VEX
01:20:30 Parameter expressions
01:33:51 Next topic - variables

i have never seen a youtube video that teaches like this, you teach us the why? so we know how the nodes or parameter works. thanks Junchiro Horikawa

I am in love with your teaching style. You don't waste time, you don't get carried away, you explain so good. I HATE coding but you have made me want to try again. Thankyou.

Another great tut, thanks so much. Quick tip , just hover your mouse over the name of the parameter to see the parameter name, no need to go into the parameter editor interface. Also to my knowledge, there is no need to be running the set() function every time you want to write a vector, this is necessary in some situations, like if you want to create a vector using variables, but it works to just use the {*,*,*} format such as @P = {1,2,3} rather than @P = set(1,2,3);

After finishing your video on solvers, I decided that I'd check out your other tutorials in this series, to shore up the holes in my houdini understanding. Thanks, you're a great teacher. Very thorough, and easy to understand.

Thanks. Finished this lesson right now. Finally a complete and clear explanation on these basic topics that many others deal with only a little or too hastily. Recommended for those like me who are passionate about Houdini and want to grow but have no programming basis. On to the next one.

Yes, every other tutor for VEX has said they're going to lead us by the hand but after a short intro we're thrown ruthelessly into the thick of it all and incomprehension can only follow. These tutorials are very granular, molecular in construction and I appreaciate that kind of meticulous intelligent teaching a lot. I was particularly struck by his description of the back slash marks casting the string type into a float type. Very eloquent dissertation. Thanks.

is it possible if you make a condition in the wrangle node that if "a" is written in the parameter (string in the null node), the parameter intiger in the null node is assigned a certain value? that should be possible, right? but i haven't found out how to do it. can someone help, please?
