My FL18 is going on its 18th year this year and I just bought a new battery for it this week. I love that unit and I don't see myself upgrading until it dies, which might be never. I love Vexilar flashers!

Thanks for watching. We hear a lot of love for the FL18! It makes sense that Vexilar keeps it in the lineup year after year!

I got an 8SE 10 years ago and it worked perfectly. I decided to upgrade this year and I got the 30BB. What a difference from the 8 to the 30. I have been so impressed by the difference in the bottom and the fish display for the 30. Great product-great job.

Was gonna get this unit but ultimately I made the switch to hummingbird I have used vexilar my whole life but I feel like with the competition in ice fish vexilar is starting to fall behind and with the prices only going up I couldn’t pull the trigger
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! You make a great point. We hear this argument often, and in terms of innovation it is well placed. All of the Vexilar models are flashers. The capabilities and features change, but it is the same technology. The most redeeming qualities of Vexilars are reliability, durability, and ease of use. Can we ask which unit you opted for instead?

@@YouBetchaOutdoors1 I went with the helix 5 and I wasn’t tryna bash on vexilar at all I just feel like if they are going to continue being top of the line they are gonna have innovative and create a digital unit but maybe they already are
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
Agreed! It will be interesting to see where it all goes. For example, both Lowrance and Humminbird are entering into the live-view sonar world to compete with Garmin. Once that technology becomes more affordable, we will likely see fewer flashers. Regardless, it’s an exciting time to be a fisherman!

Only the ultrapack shows battery life or both packs?

Isnt the proview on the flx 28 able to have different beam angles
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question! The proview transducer is technically only a 9 degree cone. However, because the primary cone is so narrow, the transducer can utilize the secondary cone(40 degree) in depths of less than 30 feet. So yes, with the proview you are using different cone angles, but not with the precision that the broadband transducer can provide.
@travisburt13173 жыл бұрын
@@YouBetchaOutdoors1 how are you able to set it up as that wider cone? People say by turning the game all the way up, but then you get so much interference it's impossible even with all interference settings... Thanks for your time explaining this, ive asked multiple sales associates "experts" this question and no one can seem to give me an answer
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
@@travisburt1317 The wider cone angle is available through gain adjustment. However, it occurs at low gain settings before the screen gets blown out with interference. Vexilar does a great demonstration of this in the following video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmivknqLgbZ9i68 If you jump to the 5 min mark it will show how minor adjustments to the gain will improve the sensitivity of the transducer and show you targets that will be within the 40 degree secondary cone.
@travisburt13173 жыл бұрын
@@YouBetchaOutdoors1 thank you. How much do you have to turn it up?
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
@@travisburt1317 You should see the best results in gain settings up to 3. After that, you will likely see too much interference.

Mine does not have the master switch ...

As of this season (2021-2022) Vexilar is now selling the unit in a pro pack which does not have the Master switch.
@pangyang24013 жыл бұрын
At that price point I'd rather get a helix 7 with dual screen flasher/sonar imaging, and or use it all season.
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
Price points are a major factor when deciding what unit is a best fit for you. Having a unit that works well all year round makes a lot of sense. Thanks for watching!

Does the 30 have a demo mode and weed mode?
@YouBetchaOutdoors12 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! It does not have those features. The ability to adjust power and cone angle is very similar to what is achieved in weed mode, so adding that feature would be redundant. As far as demo mode goes, that is only available on the 28 & 20.

I like the idea of the FLX-30 transducer but wish it was a 5 to 20 (or more) degree cone angle. Did you find yourself using the frequency option to key in on bottom structure?
@YouBetchaOutdoors13 жыл бұрын
I wish they would have talked to you first... A wider range would be awesome! In our experience, the frequency adjustment worked best for limiting interference and fishing in weeds. You are spot on with the ability to key in on bottom structure.

@@YouBetchaOutdoors1 thanks for the quick reply. I've got a ProView on my FL-18 which has worked great but I'm debating an upgrade to the 28 or 30. It's a tough call. Might have to wait for your FLX-28 vs FLX-30 video before I pull the trigger.

We will get one made this season! The plan is to make it on the ice so we can show it in action instead of in theory. Thanks for the questions and support!
