pretty cool, im just looking into these new types of fish finders, this product is ok i just dont like the interface and how things show up on your mobile device right now im looking into the Deeper fish finder which runs about $230 or iBobber that cost about $100 ,those two show fish clearly and the depth of the fish and many other funtions like water temp, best days to fish according to the moon and basically weather around you. theres not to many reviews on the ibobber but loooks like the system for me

How can you tell if it's a fish or just debris. I'm confused. Just bought one today.

I need help... I have a T-pod and I have tried to used it many times to find fish with not much luck. I am looking for Kokanee, Perch, Tout, Catfish, Bass... you name it. This is my first sonar so I am not sure I have it configured correctly. Do you have tip on what setting would be best. Do I have my gain set too high? It looks like you have your gain at 39% is that based on the water conditions? Thanks for this review most sonar phone information is usually a quick review or advertisement... is there anyway you could do an in-depth video on setting up the app and marking fish?

set you gain so that it starts looking like salt and pepper. the fish will show up as larger darker marks. if they are arc shaped and suspended in the water column they are fish for sure.

I noticed you said that this wasn't good to use an ultra-light pole. A lot of times when I'm in the river for steelhead I use an UL pole. Do you really think using an UL would be a bad idea? 6-8 lbs test line with that setup.

You won't be able to cast it very well with a light rod and you will need to be careful not to break your line especially on a river or stream in which it could possibly float away from you, but honestly you should be OK. Just use caution.

Can someone please help? The wifi for the sonar will not show up at all. I have really good signal so Idk why it isn't. I've waited 10 minutes and nothing. I charged it all the way. I've been following instructions but the wifi will not show up for it. Does anyone know why? Let me know asap.

Bye-Apexx go into your phones settings and try connecting that way first. I have to connect manually every time.

Do u understand what runs off 240 aka 220 electric dryers electric stove ex. The plugs aren't even the same as a 120, 240 has a 4 prong outlet 2 hot 1 neutral and a ground or sometimes 3 depending on the appliance but never the less your average 120 plug would never fit and should never be modified to fit you could get hurt or even die messing with electricity if you don't know what you're doing................just a little knowledge for you people reading this

Mike Cunningham You might also want to do some research before insisting others do. I'm from Europe, and almost all small equipment chargers will plug into either 110v (US) or 240v (EU) (they change the heads). The output power is still exactly the same. If you have a laptop or even a phone charger, check the transformer box input voltage(s), they are most likely 110-240v Everything I have, even a small plantronics bluetooth headset has dual power chargers.

I wonder what the cone angle is like how wide is the angle you view? In an ice fishing vexilar you can see 3 feet to 20 feet depending how deep you are to the left and right of you.
@3RiversFishingAdventures
@3RiversFishingAdventures 10 жыл бұрын
There are several choices when it comes to ice fishing units. You can get 9, 12, or 19 degree cones. I think this Sonarphone has a 30 degree angle so it is pretty wide.

Great review !! I have to say this is pretty impressive. I was just browsing and saw the iBobber and I thought that device is inferior comparing to the Vexilar. The problem with the iBobber is it transmits its signal via Bluetooth which only has a limited range of 100 ft which is just not enough. A friend of mine had the old Humminbird Smartcast. I didn't like it at all, 1) the sonar device was just way too light to be able to cast it with any decent distance and 2) the wristwatch display was just way too small and primitive being black and white. So, this Vexilar unit is the best I've seen to date. Congrats with your purchase !

Alex Fu What about the deeper? You do know Wi-Fi uses more battery than Bluetooth and yes Wi-Fi does go farther like you said.
@Rascallucci
@Rascallucci 9 жыл бұрын
Welder Nate Wi-Fi might use more battery. But, bottom line, there is no point to cast the transponder for just 100ft, you are just not covering enough water.
@weldernate4860

Alex Fu I'm sure the deeper I'm thinking about getting will work within 100 feet which is good enough.

The key question here, how long in the sonar mode before the device drains the battery on the phone?
@3RiversFishingAdventures
@3RiversFishingAdventures 10 жыл бұрын
The screen being on is what will drain the battery more than the app, it uses no more power than any other app. Tons of options for keeping your battery topped off, if that is a concern. Frankly, from what I've seen firsthand, I would not be concerned with battery drain using this product.
@KayakMuskyCentral
@KayakMuskyCentral 10 жыл бұрын
DTroFishOn OK I understand your point but battery drain is a huge issue with smarphone linked devices. The technology seems to have gotten ahead of the battery. Keep in mind, I don't fish for 2-3 hours but more like 6-8hours. For example, I run a Navionics boating app for waypoints, track, charting etc and it drains my phone after 90min. This is actually a really frustrating situation. I have no idea if the Vex sonarphone would have this problem as I have not used it.
@3RiversFishingAdventures
@3RiversFishingAdventures 10 жыл бұрын
Monster Bass Productions yep I hear ya. I use the Navionics app all the time. Keep in mind its not the app itself that is draining the battery, but rather the constant use of the GPS antenna and the display. Any navigation app will do the same thing. An external source of power like a USB battery pack or plugging into a 12v source in your boat is the best bet. I'm a find a spot and anchor type of fisherman so I don't use much battery power at all. I can see how trolling all day can eat a lot of juice.
@KayakMuskyCentral
@KayakMuskyCentral 10 жыл бұрын
DTroFishOn Yes, I agree with you. My issue is GPS battery drain. I just researched this. So I would guess the sonarphone would not have this problem. great channel by the way ! Some of those catfish are huge! regards, MBP

My Samsung S4 lasted 3 hours with the screen on using the sonarphone while ice fishing. I carry 2 extra batteries with me in my pocket, so no problem. Iphone people may have a different opinion, but yeah, there are tons of ways to keep your battery topped off. This device only lasts 4.5 hours on a charge, so that's the limiting factor at this point.
