I donno man. Vex saying its intentional and held back and to make it seem more popular, but the 4080 didn't sell very well at all so why would they care about artificially limiting something like the 5080? You can't just keep saying stuff like 5080 is just to sell the 5090, and then suddenly its held back stock wise when there IS no 5090s to actually buy. And then you can't just say "oh its for datacenters" after saying "there's stock that's being held back". Like pick a theory and stick to it instead of promoting whatever new theory that's popular, unless the intention is just to get views for videos. Welp

@@be0wulfmarshallz I think Nvidia is just not producing a lot of them. It's less artificial scarcity to drive up demand and more not wanting to oversaturate and flood the market with gpus like nvidia did with the 30 series. They want to reliably get rid of old stock without making them so plentiful nvidia no longer has influence on retail value. This way they can keep gpu prices high. Disappointed in gamers Nexus take that it’s because of tariffs, which gives them the out that they need. If they’re afraid of tariffs that haven’t yet happened, wouldn’t they be hitting the market even harder right now? To try and get as much as they could? It’s the opposite. They have no competition, they know it, so they’re doing scummy business practices that are anti-consumer. You can’t buy a 5090 right now, but all of your favorite content creators have six, and you can go out and spend essentially $4000 on computer components that are only worth less than 1000, being your only way to get a 5090 right now. Pre-order it into March for only 6500!!! Wtf It’s so stupid and convoluted and it’s intentionally done. They haven’t just suddenly stopped producing the 4000 series either. Those things haven’t been made for seemingly a long time and that’s why their prices were artificially inflating as well instead of deflating.

They're simply not going to release a good xx80 card until all the stock 40xx stock is gone. Linux is not one homogenous iteration of software, nor is it merging with windows in any meaningful way. The compatibility between the two is made possible, mostly through either hypervisors and virtualization and the reverse engineering of code to provide a compatability layer. The inevitable and almost infinite forks that form from each project means that the idea of it merging with windows is something that will never truly happen. Also, you still didn't explain what on earth it has in common with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in various institutions and companies. Quite frankly, it would appear that you have no idea what you're actually talking about.

Just checked the situation in Finland. No confirmed availability anywhere. One retailer mentions 10th of March for 5080 arriving at their main warehouse. One retailer has a disclaimer that says "Products unfortunately have a very limited availability!" They claim that batches that have arrived in stock are released for sale at 1 pm on weekdays and are limited to one card per customer. Same goes for every 5080/5090 model. ATM, some prices listed for the 5090 are from 3000 to 3900€, which I guess are just "placeholder" prices, as some others are listed at 2600 to 2900€. 5080 prices are from 1300 to 2300€...

It's annoying that all new 5080's were probably bought out by reviewers and gamers already rocking 4080/4090's on their high-end pc's and giving them a bad review compared to their current setup, when people on lower tier cards like a 20-series just want a better card overall and don't have access to it now.

New Transformer DLSS Model is more expensive to run. Ray Reconstruction on 20-30 series leads to a massive 30% FPS drop, but only 5% on 40-50 series. So all that pro-consumer behaviour could be just NVIDIA knowingly lowering your FPS so you decide to upgrade sooner.

So would you rather have the option to have a worse version or none at all? Only idiots expect there to be no downside or no scaling between older gpus. Here's the problem. I pre ordered the new ROG 27' 4k 240Hz QD-OLED with DP 2.1, thinking I would surely be able to secure a 5090. The money wasn't an issue, so I wasn't worried. I showed up to microcenter in St. Davids PA at 10:00 PM the night before and was over 80th in line. The store received 4 5090's. Now not only can my rig not run at 4k whatsoever but I can't even get a 4090 because its only capable of DP 1.4 without display stream compression (not to mention the low stock and ABSURD prices). I was so excited and now I feel betrayed by NVIDIA. Not fair. I don't want to return this awesome monitor because in the back of my mind I still have hope I can somehow acquire a 5090. I have a job and I cannot dedicate my every waking hour into checking stock and frankly I can't spend $4k-8k on a scalped card. Gaming is truly the only thing I enjoy and now I can't have that because of NVIDIA's ego.

So for Australia: I'm in contact with distributors for the 5090 to do custom builds and they recommended back-orders for end of Feb around January (for me). With this I was curious if ANY retailers actually got GPUs. I opened as many retailers and waited 1 minute after launch, for me it was 12AM all stock was "Pre-order" and "Sold out" status. Being interested I kept refreshing all night and basically watched "Pre-order" status turn to "Out of stock status". My feeling is there actually wasn't stock, or barely any stock to go around so the companies just took pre-orders, blamed "hype" and are actually waiting on the distributors to stock up. Some of the distributor back-orders are going to be as bad as March and quantities are still unknown. I felt this was interesting to share, from a perspective from direct distributor and retail perspective.
