Restoring 1983 Honda VF750F

Just found this, very happy. My wife bought me one of these for fathers day in 2015 for $500. It had been butchered by neglect and over zealous spray canning but it went like a shower of shit. I rode it for 6 months until the rego was out then started stripping it down. To date I have 2 pac'd the frame in black, re- loomed the harness, full engine rebuild: bearings, rings, timing chains and guides, all seals etc. I was lucky in that the cams and journals were serviceable but needed 1 valve. The anodizing on the wheels was thin so I had them sandblasted and powder coated in black with a gloss clear overcoat. Extensive alloy polishing, brake overhaul, rebuild forks, headset bearings and painted pretty much everything. Coming to the end now but having some difficulty finding a decent rear brake fluid reservoir and a few other odds and ends. Hoping to have it on the road for this summer. Looking good. I to am rebuilding an 83 750 with an 85 1000 engine fitted. Trying to make an endurance/cafe racer.

I'm working on my own 83 VF750F restoration currently. Cool to see someone else building one up. My cams chewed through the rocker arms- hopefully your cams are still good! Carb rebuild isn't as bad as people say, as long as you take pictures and go one at a time. Thanks for the Freddie Spencer clip!

I had one of these in the early 90's. I threw it down the road perfecting my "back it in" and "power slide it out" cornering haha. The joys of youth. I didn't own mine long enough to discover any gremlins. What, in your experience, should someone look out for when buying and/or restoring one of these?

Thanks for the comment Nicolas I've got the heads off one motor three cams are good but the bottom end has let go hopefully I have enough parts out of the two to rebuild one. How far are you along with yours? Mark

Does anyone know where VIN number is located on the frame
