Good to see Maddocks shop on the screen. Next time you're up I'll show you around the workshop and the showrooms properly and you can stop for a cuppa in the manshed.

I own a gen 8 vfr , great bike if your a shortish height, im 5 ft 8 and as you say fits like a glove, can flat foot the bike. Still have the original screen, no buffering but do get a bit of wind noise, but hey im on a bike, seat is firm but all day riding comfort, installed bar risers as they are low in stock form, best bike have owned, enjoy the bike dave it truly is an iconic bike for sure

Another great video! Somehow I missed this one but it showed up on my suggested videos. That seems like a really nice bike to do long trips on. And that bag looks amazing. I might have to go out and grab me one. Thanks for sharing!!!!

The VFR looks gorgeous Dave. We're massive SW Motech fans, we have 3 tank bags in various sizes. The thing to remember when drilling the base to fit the plate is to pull back the inner liner before you drill. Don't ask how I remember this! (Actually your new one looks a different design to the older one)

Same bike, same colour! Bar risers. Comfortable with ear plugs. Got me between the shoulders when I had to filter 10 miles of stationary m/way traffic. Love the look and sound. Can be a bit “naughty” as the vtec sound change is addictive. I use the smallest Shad tank bag. Unobtrusive fixings - recommended! 👍👍

I'm pretty sure you can change from miles to kms and vise versa by holding down the select button for a bit, with the ignition key in the on position. I can't imagine it being different on a UK bike 🤷‍♂ I have SW Motech gear as well. 👍

I bought my 1200 from Glen at Maddocks. So was nice to see the shop after a good 5 months or so. Should head back there sometime. That approach from the other end does look more interesting than the one I am used to, which was from the roundabout side.

Got the Engage tank bag on my Multistrada V2S, brilliant kit, I invested in the Seat Bag too to use with the Ducati OEM panniers on big trips…love the VFR by the way, I bought one new in 2002, had 15000 miles of great trips including crossing Spain.

You brought bad memories back of the m50 when you mentioned it before the toll booths were removed Dave 😰 it used to be horrendous some days stop start for hours in the lorry with a big heavy clutch pedal, it was a good leg workout for rugby training 😂. Gerry Ryan was some character God rest his soul, feck this and feck that every day 🤣

Loved tour video. Now having 3 bikes, each with their own S W Motech tank bags. Never have to swap. Also, each having their own helmet makes it a personal thing I guess. Seems like most of my purchases are motorbike related. Still cheaper than getting married again.!! Lol. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋‍♂️

Great video Dave, if you buy the blue threadlock it holds the nuts perfectly but is semi permanent and undoes really easy, I use it all the time, like you I have been caught in the past with the red stuff

Dave, another great vid, thanks for pulling the story of the VFR together for those of us very interested in getting the same bike one day! The idea of the “stuff review” would be an excellent addition to the library. I’m a big fan of Merlin kit, keen to hear what you think. I’ve spent a complete fortune in Module at Antrim, hopefully on stuff that gets a thumbs up! 😂. Mel

Went from Honda 919 to Concours 14 to Honda NC700X and always had my eye on a VFR from this era. Almost bought one with 7k miles for $2k US but couldn't get to it in time. LIkely shouldn't add a 2nd bike to the garage. Just that much more responsibility to maintain it.

Thanks for another fun episode. By coincidence, I, too, have a large Motech tank bag on the GS and the Motech Micro on the VFR. The Micro carries a few sundries, and my Valentine-1 radar detector, as the VFR provokes me to extra-legal speeds more than not. Thanks again, and keep the videos coming. Oh, one question: what phone mount is that? I have a RAM mount on my VFR and it’s a poor solution. Thanks yet again.

Does that dealer have a number of tank bags stocked in the store? I've been wanting one for my GSA but I don't want to buy one online without checking the fit. It only needs to be big enough to store a few items. I don't want something that's too big and blocked my view of the speedo :D

3:55 You don't ride with ear plugs? I can't stand riding local roads or the highway without basic soft foam plugs in. Can hear better while riding as it quiets the wind noise allowing you to hear stuff better. Now when you stop and try to talk to someone next to you it's like having your window up but gladly have far more peaceful ride. We don't usually ride on highways in our cars with the windows down as the wind gets old after a while. Ear plugs are like rolling up the windows in a car.

Hi Dave. Awesome video. Watched the whole thing. The Givi windshield what you have on directs the wind straight on to the helmet. If you want to keep the bike looking clean Puig Double bubble windshield works good. If you want bit more wind protection MRA touring screen with the spoiler included works well. Or the best and most quiet set up for me was the Givi windshield with MRA Xcreen touring spoiler. I could here hear the engine and road noise with this set up. And very important is that since you have bar risers installed the wind buffeting is more than usual since you’re head is sitting high up than the usual low position. I hope this makes sense. I had spent days after days to get the proper windshield set up for my VFR. I hope this helps. Any questions you may contact me on Instagram and I can share some info with you.
