Had my 2015 ECU flashed remotely by Sabsteef, also fitted DAM exhaust, bike runs so much better. Also followed Grahams "how to" on the fairing strip to replace air filter, it was as filthy as his and probably the original one!

I fitted a K&N filter, I do that with all my bikes throughout the years. I don’t know if it’s an improvement but I like being able to just clean and oil it instead of waiting for a new filter to arrive when I need to service it.

Ugh winter riding on roads that have been coated with "de-iceer".

Yeah, and no traction control, just had to be gradual with the throttle. Still got a little wheelie into 3rd.

What was the process and cost of the Sabsteef ECU Tune? I seen that he actually directs you through the process. I'm here in the states as well and I don't think we can get Guhl ECU upgrade. I'm purchasing a VFR 1200 very soon. I'm just trying to figure in cost. Love your channel

Thanks. With Sabsteef,he sent me the service cable (Honda service port to USB), I downloaded a software that lets him connect and control my computer, he did all the work from there, we texted throughout the process. He first ran a system check and saved the stick tune in case something went wrong, then cleared the fault codes, modified his map to fit my bike and uploaded it. All I had to do is remove a fuse and turn the ignition on and off when he asked me to.

Thank you, and Thank you!!!...lol. This is the first video I seen with the details I have been looking for! I have a 2004 ST1300, ands a 2001 Shadow ACE750, and I have been on the fence on the vfr1200f, or the cbr 650r for my next bike, and I know all about the mapping on the cbr 650r, but could not find any on the vfr1200f. Thank you just Subbed, If you get some out my channel. Ride, and stay safe.

Thank you for the kind words. I’ll definitely check out your channel. I was looking for a ST1300 at police auctions before, I might get one when I’m older, they are great bikes.

@@RoeyHaviv the ST1300 is an awesome bike you would not be disappointed with the power, and performance. Since watching your video I found a 2010 vfr1200f on Facebook market $6500 with 14,000 miles.

Hi thank you for this informative video. Did the tuner say exactly what the limiter in 1st and 2nd is? as the info seems universally vague, part throttle of full throttle, all through revs or just bottom end. (bear in mind standard bike still does 10.6 quarter miles). Mines a 2012 with the factory uprated ecu, feels mild at low revs but not exactly restricted. Any info would help as I run a vfr channel in UK. Thank you.

Hey Graham, first I want to thank you for your videos, They helped me educate myself before choosing this bike. As for the limiters, apparently they are on 1st to 3rd gears and limit the torque throughout the rev range, I only felt it in wide open throttle, now wide open is scary on the bike where it wasn’t so before. I will take it to the drag strip this spring, I have a local 1/8 mile where I except it to finish in the sub 7 seconds, over 100mph, a bit faster than my V-Max.

@@RoeyHaviv Thank you so much, it's encouraging that my videos helped. Yes I had gathered from various sources that it was opening throttle wide and quick that highlghted the restriction, sort of crude traction control. So given the 2012 models have TC, I guess the restriction was mapped out or reduced somewhat. I'd love to hear how it does on the strip. 👍

@@Grahamvfr "So given the 2012 models have TC, I guess the restriction was mapped out or reduced somewhat." I originally had a 2012 with TC exactly like your blue one. My understanding before I bought it back in 2015 was they had dialled down the restrictions a bit but they were still pretty intrusive. I took the bike to Provence and found it very difficult to ride fast on the very twisty roads. I disliked it so much I sold it pretty quickly afterwards. I was used to those roads so it wasn't me, it was definitely the bike and the restrictions in 1st and 2nd. Bottom line is I would recommend getting any VFR1200 flashed. I have a 2011 DCT now and I am going to be getting it done remotely by Sabsteef.

@@jeremyr62 Well I guess it must be subjective, (see link to my video on the engine at end of comment) I've owned lots of fast bikes in my time, and I don't feel like there is anything that you would call a 'restriction' . Its important to note that no tuner or magazine or even Honda has given any technical info, on what these so called restrictions are. The stock pre 2012 bike run quartermile in 10.6 sec (uk tests) which is hardly restricted performance on 170bhp (at crank) bike. My 2012 alsohas the benefit of a power commander 5,so it's not totally stock. My viwe is that that Honda simply mapped it softly for whatever reason. What I would love to see, (and ive searched) is a back to back comparison (not anecdotes) of a standard pre 2010 bike and a flashed bike Versus the 2012 onwards bike, showing power graphs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6rbZYB3qK2Gd5Y

@@Grahamvfr I have seen dynanometer data before and after for pre 2012. The before rwhp shows very significant dips in first and second. Not sure about post 2012. I was happy enough with the 2012 until I hit some very tight hairpins in the Alps. I really struggled. In contrast my 2004 FJR had no issues.

Whats the top speed you achieved after the tune?
@RoeyHaviv
@RoeyHaviv Жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t know how fast it could go now, I saw north on 160mph right after shifting to fifth gear and it was accelerating in the same rate as lower speeds, I would guess around 190 if I dared.

@RoeyHaviv

Yes, they are faster in a straight line and the VFR is easier to go faster on around corners, but they are closer than I initially thought.
