Hello. Which one a model?
@voided767 жыл бұрын
Trust me when I say: The less exhaust you put behind your VFR, the better its going to get. It will Only get deeper at idle, and more maniacally angry once you push it into Vtec. Get those baffles out of there. Don't worry about a power commander. get a RapidBike RACING module. take it to a dyno and get it tuned for 93octane. the difference is unbelievable. -1T on the front sprocket, and hold on. :) Also: If you want more VFR roar pop the seat, prop your gas tank up, and remove/cap the flapper valve in the airbox. It's a cheaty lil bit of kit that quiets the intake down for noise regulation. once you defeat that flapper valve, you will hear the engine properly bellowing out of the intake stacks. In full tuck, it will make your hair stand on end.

@@eric62backstrom I don't know if you're going to have the tim eto really look, Check the charging harness on the right side of the bike under the fairing, make sure it isn't burned up. Check the fuel pump relay harness by the battery, the main fuse and holder, the wiring in VFR's is sussy from the factory, double check that it isn't roasted or on it's way to it. can save you some headaches. Ask if he's replaced the rectifier with an FH020AA. if he has it's a sure bet to get it. The wiring, charging harness and recto is the VFR's only real weakness/problem area. Lemme know how it goes. :)

Best sounding exhaust for the V4 engine in my opinion were the Two Brothers pipes. I had one on a '98 and with the attenuation insert removed, it really allowed the small-block sound to shine under acceleration and in tunnels :)

I also picked up an '03 VFR800, but it came with a Two Brothers Carbon Fiber exhaust. I have to say.. it doesn't matter the exhaust, but the V4 sounds almost orgasmic. I have a hard time keeping myself within federal legality due to the sound.. the bike noise just tells me to make it happy. It's only happy around 8k rpm and by that time, the authorities wouldn't be super happy with me.. Videos are hard to do a proper exhaust justice - my gopro didn't grab half the moistness that makes me weak in the knees when I rev up my '03 VFR. Definitely in love with the V4 though.. glad you're happy with it!

The Staintune exhaust was the best slip on for the VFR. The riser pipe looks like SS to me since it yellowed pretty fast. Chrome turns blue, yellow and golden colors all at once. I didn’t see any blueing. Sargent seat isa good seat and $50 is a steal.

Isn't the whole point of VTEC to have "variable" valves? Meaning they open at a higher rpm allowing more efficiency at idle and lower rpm, and more power at higher? What's the point of VTEC operating at idle?? And wasn't 2002 the first year of VTEC? You have some explaining to do, sir.

Isn't the heat that comes out of the pipes going to affect the rear lamps? Like cause them to melt or something, because the pipes are right beneath them and there's a lot of heat coming out of them and going straight up. I recon that the tips of the pipes are build in some way that they might redirect the heat straight backwards but that's for when you're speeding. Whilst standing still how's the heat going? Doesn't it go up, straight in the lamps? Sorry if I wrote wrong and you don't understand, I`m now a native english speaker. Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking of getting either a VFR800 or VTR1000 for my next bike, currently riding an old v65 Sabre. I've heard the best vfrs are 98-01 because in 02 they switched to cam chains and added weight for emissions compliance, and some people don't like vtec. I love the sound of both, but like the vfr sound better. I know the vtr is quite a bit lighter, and the weight is one thing I don't like about my Sabre. Hard to see in the video but, but your charging voltage looks way too low. I would strongly recommend a VFRness before your stator and regulator rectifier burn out!
@HeroRR7 жыл бұрын
The voltage is measured through my license plate light, so it's my charging system under load. I just got the wiring harness replaced and now it reads 13.1 when cruising around... I will be doing the mosfet rectifier in the near future to help prevent any issues.
@kedge78077 жыл бұрын
HEROrr good call! it's not if but when the OEM R/R fails. My 2002 nearly left me stranded this spring when the R/R failed and burnt out the stator.
@squirrel66877 жыл бұрын
All, the R/R is not the fault or the addition of a VFRness the ONLY (if) remedy. It is the shoddy connectors that allow grit and grime to create a high resistance in the connectors and heat up making the regulator work harder heating everything up. Next thing you know it begins a cycle where it heats up more and along with the creation of smut from contamination, creates even more heat. After so many cycles, the connectors burn out and take out many other components. Shorten the wires and try weatherpack connectors that seal out dirt and grime, maybe even solder the connections. Most of the explanations I have read do not address the science, the why--just a bunch of guys that jump from this or that part to the next as some kind of social club. R/Rs are wear items, period. Give them a good connection and monitor voltages, maybe even the phase voltages. Beefier models with higher current capabilities will raise the derating curve of output current vs temperature and give a longer life with all else equal. The mosfet design is good but the overall topology is still similar to the standard. Switching semiconductors are still semiconductors. Anyway, just a budding power EE and proud VFR OWNER of both fifth and sixth gen examples.

The pipes are nice, the downpipe discolors quickly, but the only issue I really have is the rubber strap under the hangers. It cracks almost immediately. I thought about getting a nice silicone strap to replace them, and may after they completely fall apart but would get them before installation if I had it to do again. So quality is good, just marketing is bad.
