Honestly, it's just so beautiful and amazing to see the scale of our galaxy, so much amazing stuff out there, red dwarfs, quasars, black holes, oort clouds.. And yet we still have flat earth clowns exist, who like to ignore all human knowledge & advancement in understanding the universe..and dumb it down to a nonsense model that a child can poke holes in, I mean it's somehow exponentially more ignorant than religious zealots still sticking to a 2000 year old planet and dismiss the beauty and majestic course of evolution that over billions of years produced humanity on our microscopic blue speck in the cosmos No myths or religion or flat earth cults can even come close to creating a fiction thats even remotely as impressive as what's really out there

Flat earth clown ? Buddy, flat earth is truth. Wake up to the lies your braindead. It's so easy to prove the earth is flat but you r so dumbed down you cannot see reality for what it is. Your stuck in your 3rd grade science book. THE EARTH IS FLAT...

Just a fun fact: in germany we actually have a solar system scale model running along a river. It shows all 9 planets in an actual size and space scale. If you keep walking along the river, you will encounter the spots where the planets are displayed in realistic size and scale. Earth is like a stick-needles head but the sun is a giant yellow ball on the ground a few kilometers down the river :D

The educational channels on KZbin are usually leagues better than most educational programs on TV because they don't rely on catering to the lowest common denominator and don't infuse drama and exaggerated sensationalism into subject matters that have no place for this kind of nonsense.

To those wondering how UY Scuti got its name: UY Scuti was discovered in the 1860s and was found to be a variable star (one that changes brightness), so it is subject to variable star designations. "Scuti" means that the star is in the constellation of Scutum (Latin for "shield"), and "UY" means that it is the 38th discovered variable star in the constellation. So putting it all together, UY Scuti's name literally means "38th known variable star in Scutum."

The problem is that it's impossible to just do a scale comparison beyond what you just did. You now have shown these stars, but they are but a spec of dust compared to a galaxy and a galaxy is a speck of dust compared to the next larger feature, and this keeps going half a dozen steps up. And mass is important. A black hole at an unscaled size of a tennis ball would have many times the mass of planet earth as our earth condensed to a black hole would be barely and inch in diameter.

I don't think a Galaxy is comparable to a star, since a Galaxy is a collection of literally countless stars and objects all together. A lot of comparisons can continue far past whatever parameters they were originally made in anyway, lol.

Before you even get that far I don’t think people realize how big the distances are from planet to planet just like in our solar system Or even how big the space around earth is before you can reach anything else Even if you include the moon like you said it would be a spec of dust on the ruler of the distance to the next planet Now imagine the 3D empty space around that in 360 degrees around the earth And do that all again for the next planet and the next and the next Now that makes this comparison feel impossible again But nope that’s space Don’t even get me started on the space around an atom

I don’t know why, but I feel gravity now. I’m a lump of sentient carbon stuck by a weak force to a large piece of rock floating through space. A dust particle on a piece of grit spinning round an explosion of which I will never see end. This is and will be my entire existence.
