Didn’t life of pi also film the ocean scenes on a huge water tank?? The green screened water is still seamless in that movie! “A tank doesn’t have the right waves” my ass
@notyrpapa8 ай бұрын
It’s a genuinely great film, and I had no idea the water was CGI when watching it until this moment. It’s Oscar-nominated for the acting, which is what the water helps to sell. That’s what CGI should do in this context - boost the acting performance. Tbh the marketing of it was terrible and I didn’t watch it for ages because it looked terrible until I actually sat down and gave it a try. Makes sense that the box office would be bad.

I was in the park a while back with my wee boy teaching him how to ride his bike, and there were some young guys maybe about 12 or 13 years old filming each other on their phones running around with Nerf guns - and one of them was chasing them about on a hoverboard, doing this big long sweeping shot from behind his friend. Hi I actually cut sound on Nyad. Cool to see things I worked on surprise me here! Yeah vfx was nuts. On every iteration of the water vfx I had to cut in more mouth splashing sounds, because the water levels went higher up on her face each time. By the end I was in a pool with my daughter recording her breaths while I splashed at her. So I guess a small part of AB's Oscar nomination belongs to my daughter.

I liked chatting with her during our appointment, but the fact that I had no face-to-face communication got old pretty fast. Otherwise, I did not see a problem with them. But then, that was my only exposure to them.

It seems from the vast variety of differing stories about the quality of their service, that they are unregulated if anything. Some people seem to thrive using it while others get stuck with bad therapist. I'd say it's more a quality control issue than a full on scam, although I totally understand that when things are unreliable like that it can be argued still as a scam because it has that 50/50 chance of you not getting what you've payed for..
