I've actually genuinely been putting a lot of thought into recommendations for you guys since you started this series and here's what I've come up with: Fractals. What am I talking about? Computer-generated landscapes using fractal technology. Famously that's what they used in 'Genesis Simulation' sequence in Star Trek II and it was groundbreaking. But I loved the episode you guys have done where you've attempted to recreate 'classical' CGI using modern technology and it just seems like a great challenge. Can you recreate the incredible fractal landscape from Star Trek II using modern software? Other points of interest aren't movies but Rescue of Fractalis and Lair both used fractal processing under the hood in ways that were extremely impressive for their time. Don't need nothing but a hearty thank you. Also I just love when you look at old analog effects so would love to see you talk about good and bad matte painting over the years, maybe Dykstraflex & computer-controlled multipass miniatures filming in general, or a "retro" episode with like pre-70s effects movies like Fantastic Voyage, Forbidden Planet, Journey to the Centre of the Earth & War of the Worlds. I think everyone talks about (the very awesome) Ray Harryhausen but I think it over shadows some other optical achievements of that time. Or the silent films of Fritz Lang (his german films are basically all effects heavy science fiction or fantasy) especially the launch sequence in Frau im Mond. Peace

You have to take a look at the 1955 movie "A journey to the beginning of time" from the Czech director Karel Zeman. For its time, it has one of the most groundbreaking VFX. You should make a whole episode about this guy, he made a ton of Jules Verne inspired films. It is even available with English subtitles on Netflix.

one of, if not, my favorite movie of all time, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! it helped me the most in studying filmmaking and it still does. i'm never a fanboy of some proberty or movies or whatever, but this movie comes pretty close. i have one of the props that Mary Svevo (Kirsten Dunst) was holding when Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) first visited Lacuna Inc, one of the envelopes she was holding and i also have steelbook bluray that is quite expensive. the movie is not talked about enough, in my opinion.

@Goldenkitten12 жыл бұрын
I don't see a better place to discuss Tenet so I guess I'll put it here. Wouldn't fighting someone who's moving back in time be incredibly simple? They're locked in a loop that forces them to take actions that were never meant to react to your actions, they can't see what you're going to do so wouldn't it be as simple as shooting or curb-stomping them the moment they fell to the floor or otherwise weren't reacting to your actions?
@sgbench2 жыл бұрын
@@Goldenkitten1 It's not really like that in Tenet. The film plays with _reversed_ time. A reversed person is still traveling "forward" in time from their perspective - and can still make decisions, etc. - while the normal (non-reversed) world appears reversed to them.
