For those who don't know, Trela was a Lucario main in Brawl. Up until Ryu was released, Trela was a Charizard main in Smash 4. It's good to see his skill being fully utilized in a top 15 (probably) character.

I honestly think Ryu is top 6. He is a lot like ZSS in that he punishes like nobody's business. Plus he has a great match up v falcon and fox, thanks to his up tilt. Pikachu screws with him though.

scepkile Now you know how SF players are. They have to make fast as hell inputs for combos, even more so in SF4 with the inclusion of focus cancel combos. SF has hitstop frames, which means that you only have this much time to input a move after connecting one move in order for it to combo. So you have to have really fast reaction timing to actually pull that off with Ryu in smash.

scepkile It is for me tho, grew up with SF and I still play it. I currently play Dudley in SF4 and I must say that playing him kinda helps me know how to play Ryu in Smash since doing Jab or up/down tilts into Shoryu is the same as doing a Jab/Fierce into DP (Shoryu) as well as doing half/quarter circle inputs quickly.

There's also the fact that most recoveries in this game are completely free unless your opponent is someone like Sheik or MK, and even then, most competent players can recover against them. I think 2 stocks, best of 5 would be a better ruleset.

On one hand Trela proves Ryu has top tier potential, and on the other, I almost think Ryu is too good. His combos are insane, and he can confirm into that true Shoryuken in so many ways. I just think it's a bit too strong for how easy it is to land and how safe it is in general. A nerf so it kills maybe 5-10% later might be good. I know Ryu takes the most time and dedication to master, but the reward for that mastery is a little OP imo.

I think that Ryu is going to join the top tiers eventually. He does so much damage, has so many safe options, has every kind of setup and movement option you could want, and his shoryuken is one of the best trump cards in the entire game. +Endurrr because three grabs=death and there was nothing you can do about it.ZSS downthrow is very DIable and the ZSS has to make a DI read,the combos don't kill for a very long time and her grab is very punishable.Luigi had an easy time and the nado Atleast is a 50/50 mixup,ZSS has a hard time with grab kill confirms.

It's disheartening to see easy to pick up characters like zss winning against characters that actually need a lot of skill to play like ryu.

Ok we need to get this idea that ZSS is really an easy character. Yes, compared to other character such as ryu, sheik, rob, and sheik she can be easy to play, but ZSS is by means no zero skill. First off her "unpunishable" neutral air and back air can be punished with power shields as well as punishing the startup for both moves. Second her grab has 10 frames of startup as well as 16 frames of ending lag meaning that if you can force a player to miss their grabs either through baits or spotdodges you can pretty much get yourself a free punish. Third, her boost kick (up-b) can be died by inputting towards the boost kick and then idol wards toward stage and allowing you to live in up until your early hundreds. You can also smash di the first three hits of boost kick allowing you to jump away from which can help at dire situations. Finally, zero suit has a relatively weak neutral game since her neutral game revolves around setting up into grades or using shff u-airs.

+gamemaster4112 if you look at other ZSS players such as dakpo, coco, nick riddleand bengals they are not consistent at killing their opponents. That does not mean that I am hating on those players, but what I am trying to say is that nairo compared very well known ZSS mains is leaps and bounds better then them. Even bengals himself said the thing that differentiates nairo and other ZSS is how well he can consistently get kills with ZSS and how well his at positioning himself to get those kills. Sorry i am sound mean, but it really annoys me that people need to understand the difference between characters and top level play. Low level players will obviously have a harder time against ZSS on for glory or anthers ranked who just spam paralyzer and grabs because they have lack of experience and don't try to understand the matchup and what your character can do. Btw I am not a ZSS main or even a nairo fan boy, but i respect give respect for people that can bring ZSS to high level gameplay

Im positive that the Z motion for shoryuken definetly requires a TON of skill. tell me this... how many times did you see a up tilt/downtilt -> shoryuken kill in this set. Now how many times did you see an up air X2 -> up b ZSS kill in this set. maybe your idea of easy kill set ups is skewed.

Ryu can hit you with just 4-5 attacks and then combo into shoryuken. That's all he does is combo into shoryuken for the kill and it's SOOO good. No other character is anything like that. This doesn't feel like smash to me (which is funny since ryu's the problem). Now look, I'm not saying ryu is overpowered and I recognize how skilled trela is. I'm just saying ryu does not fit into the game at all, at least not the way he's designed right now.

Does anybody know how exactly Trela kills Nairo with his Shoryuken at 4:38? I know it is a true Shoryuken but I can't seem to kill ZSS in training mode with exactly the same settings (damage and stage) even with a true Shoryuken. I also end up at 95/96% damage but no 98% like in this video. Help is appreciated!
