Those are some scary pins, although esam rarely uses up and down smashes. Is there a reason why?

Forward smash is relatively hard to punish compared to up and down smash plus neither are as good knockback wise so even if he does get the jab lock a smash attack is garenteed unless pika is facing from the other side of the stage away from the edge forward smash is always the safer bet
