True but sports games early days cost less than 100 thousand to develop now its 100 million. Even for the love of basketball, it's not worth it. Also, to license an NBA game now costs 200 million/ year. Blame the NBA.

It's hard to express how fun NBA Jam was when it originally came out. Similar with NHL 94, FIFA 98, and Madden back in 90s. Arcade-style sports games of the 90s weren't the most realistic, but incredibly fun.

Those games were just good games. Everything was about creating the best game possible. These days its only about money. Games are rigged, because everybody needs to win. In game purchases are through the roof. I can't find games I like anymore. It's all the same shit.

So many good memories! I loved Run and Gun, NBA Jam and NBA Live 95 - the action/spectacle, camera angles and solid gameplay. So much competition from the different publishers made basketball games force new ideas and concepts to be generated. Now we have NBA 2K for what that's worth

Coach K changed everything! We loved breaking the backboard 2nd half.Live 94 was lit even without Jordan, Sprewell filled his shoes. Live 95 was the first game you could create your player and as a bonus you could add rookies and old school players already created by putting their name in. This probably my all time favorite game.

I swear seeing all these games brings back memories of a much simpler time than this. I use to have some of them on Sega Genesis. Especially NBA Jam, Barkley's shut up and jam, College Slam, NBA Live 95, Vitale's Awesome Baby! College hoops. I even played most of them in the arcades and consoles.

Street Slam or Street Hoop as we know it to be in Europe on the NeoGeo is still my favourite basketball game ever, you need a bit of fantasy in your games and this just does it for me just the way they slam the ball through the hoop with all the effects and sounds is awesome, such a great game.

Live was my fav bball game until 2k 09 the animation on 2k 09 was then spot on and looked similar to the real players. And for years lives game play sucks you’re sometimes being screened by your own teammates when defending from an opposing fast break. I never returned to nba live

NBA Live ‘95/Coach K were game changers. Easily the best bball games of all time when they were released, and set the standard for Live and later NBA2K. Basketball games were largely terrible until ‘95.

Double Dribble was legendary in my house. Another great game was Lakers VS Celtics and the NBA Playoffs. TV Sports football and basketball were both great games for their time but I believe they were pc only at the time. Pat Riley Basketball could have been basketball's Madden if the brand had been handled correctly. It was ahead of its time. One final mention-any sports game made by Tecmo back then was worth checking out.
