Today I'm going to be discussing one of the most forgotten but also the worst show Cartoon Network ever released to their audience, Out of Jimmy's Head. Also known as the sequel series to the movie Re-Animated.

Fun Fact: the show originally didn't have the laugh track. It wasn't until later on that CN retroactively added the laugh track to all the episodes when it only works in the later episodes that was built for it.

2:45 as a romanian, I find it hilarious that THAT'S the version to somehow survive and it says "in 1959, little Franky stared at that meatball for too long and passed out". The word-for-word translation is "fell to the ground", but based on context, they're trying to convey that he fainted because of the meatball

The show was the 2nd Cartoon Network’s original live action show, outside of the short lived Big Bag (preschool series). The problem with CN’s live action shows is that it didn’t get good ratings, & the creator of The out of Jimmy’s Head series had been ran out of town!

Big Bag was at least half-decent, right? I do not hear a lot of bad things about that show, and I remember that Ashleigh Ball got her start on this show voicing the Mouse from the Slim Pig segments.

Oh boy, I remember this series I liked it when I was a kid only because it has animated characters. but now looking back at it I can see it's not that good at all, even if it has an interesting concept I think I would enjoy it ironically if I rewatch it, mostly for how strange it is Thank you for reminding me of this series with this video! (And as a Romanian, I can confirm it doesn't make much of a diference if you understand what they're saying or not)

The thing I did like about this show and the movie was that one kid that brought different animals to schools like one day he had a iguana, then a llama, even a bag of worms that was one gag I did enjoyed.

11:19 its possible the laugh tracks were added in reruns, cause I remember watching the show when it first came out (for some reason) and not hearing a laugh track and later hearing a laugh track in later episodes, making me think "huh odd, I guess they added that". Which if that's true means there's possibly lost episodes without the laugh track on top of lost English episodes. Again this is just what I remember, could just be bad memory.

I loved this Re- Animated as a kid and saw only the first few episodes. The Apple day Characters were good, Golly and Dolly were my favorites. Now looking back the show it was very different for the time, putting live action actors interacting with cartoons it's weird idea not gonna lie . I guess cartoon Network was experimenting to see if this could be successful or not , but at the end of the day it's very weird out there kind of show. My favorite episode was the Halloween episode.

The only good scenes from this show are when the toons appear. They really had a fun time with the animation side than the live action side. Other than those, this was a terrible Cartoon Network series (though it's not the worst). I know they were trying to bring back the classic trend of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Space Jam, but the final product failed itself and was basically just a Ned's Declassified wannabe, with random cartoon characters slapped in the side. I wish that Golly Gopher short was turned into a series instead of this. Like I've said, the toons scenes in this show were the best ones and they would've made a great cartoon, lol. The movie was alright, though.

Cartoon Network's live action shows were all pretty crap. I did like Dude what would happen as a discount Mythbusters, and Destroy build Destroy had explosions and wipeout like challenges. But compared to live action shows Nick and Disney were putting out at the same time, it just doesn't measure up. Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Zeke & Luther, Big Time Rush, and Icarly were great cause it actually had story lines and character and manage to teach me some life lessons. Where as CN's live action shows were far more random and silly. It just didn't fit with other stuff on the same channel at that time. When you got shows like Ben 10 Alien force, Total Drama, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, shows where characters progress from one episode to the next, its just jarring to say the least. Then again Johnny Test was on the same year, so what do I know. I feel like they'd be a better fit on something like MTV. Especially Dude what would happen and Destroy build Destroy, they'd fit great alongside Ridiculousness.

I forgot about this until researching the film reanimated because the film was better than this trainwreck of a cartoon. 3 episodes are lost media at this point and the chances are slim if Cartoon Network ever airs anymore reruns of this show.

I was a little over 11 when the show started, I remember the promo commercials for the show, and even at 11, i was a bit baffled with the idea of the brain transplant. I was honestly turned off by the promo commercials. I remmeber watching xiaolin showdown on cartoon network directly after school and was confused when this replaced it in the same time slot. I honestly did not like this show and found years later that I was not the only one who looked negativity on this show when it aired. The thing about the brain transplant, i know it is said that scientists/doctors did have some marginal level of success, but the said test subject passed away within days. it didn't make that much sense to me as a kid and it only got worse when I became an adult. Knowing what i do now, cartoon logic aside, it's amazing that jimmy was able to have a brain transplant and have absolutely zero physical trauma outside of having to wear some bandages on his head briefly.

Living in Canada didn't have CN when I was young. Finally got it on one TV yes one specific TV on channel 37.6. Don't ask how I found that I don't remember. This was the first thing I saw on CN. I didn't even know what channel it was because my kid brain was confused by a live action show on CARTOON Network. Then after this was a different live action show so I never went to the channel again until I learned about Adventure Time when it first aired.

Out of Jimmy's Head could have literally turned the tide for Cartoon Network. As of today, it's a cesspit. CalArtsCancer everywhere, feels like 1 long episode of the same show instead of a lot of different shows. Toxic agenda being pushed, you name it. Jimmy's Head was a good concept, but done entirely wrong. It really should be revisited. The problem I had with the show was that the characters were super cringe (like Wacky World of Tex Avery). Dry forced humor... I didn't mind the fact that there was a live aspect to it, obviously CN would not have been overrun with spinoffs of live shows like iCarly which weren't cartoons. It had a valid reason to be on CN. Secondly, only Jimmy could see the cartoons. It would have been better if the cartoons were metaphysical manifestations of the cartoonist's brain that could interact with all the students, a literal nod to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The school could have been a depressing lockdown of stereotyped lunch ladies, a cruel principal, that whole shebang, but the toons bring a warmth to the school and the students. If the show Jimmy had succeed (from being well done), artists would have looked more into different types of animating and presentation instead of copying off the cringe fest we see today.

😢 I really wanted to like Out of Jimmy's Head...but I can't. They squandered so much potential for a great concept with peeve-poor writing and characters, in part because nothing was done with the setup of Jimmy's mom being an astronaut who adopted an alien for a daughter. They are just there...and that is the second most disappointing thing about this show, next to how terrifying Jimmy's life is when the writers are just using most of the imaginary cartoon characters to torture him.
