I think people that call this one of the worst shows of all time haven't seen much television, it's nowhere near as awful as the likes of say The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer or My Mother the Car. I honestly have a soft spot for this show for how deranged it is. I can say plenty of good things about it, for me it's combination of live-action and animation was done pretty well and most of the voice-acting was solid enough, the most bizarre thing about the show to me was why Craig and Robin were suddenly recast as a completely different nationality, made no sense to me and i felt like their new actors weren't as good and they stuck out like a sore thumb considering everyone else from Re-Animated reprised their roles. There were some legit funny moments and as someone who does enjoy the tween-coms on Disney Channel and Nick this show is right up my alley. Team Toon had a similar concept and aired on CN UK but was only ever seen in the U.S. on Netflix and after it got removed from there it was considered lost media until I actually managed to find all the episodes(someone in the UK was kind enough to grab them for me).

On paper, Out of Jimmy’s Head had a decent premise, but its execution left a lot to be desired. One way I think the show could have worked would be if Jimmy was able to see the cartoon characters thanks to him being a descendant of a famous cartoonist instead of him literally having the brain of one.

Jimmy is still a middle school kid who get bullied and belittle by his peers, but dreams of become a famous director/actor while working with his favorite cartoon actors. There was this toxic friendship in the show that the writers could have addressed better as a little explanation in my example Jimmy is meant to been seen as selfish for abandoning Craig in favor of his new life, but Craig has treated Jimmy so horribly for his own selfish needs that it only makes Craig come off as hypocritical for calling Jimmy out. By abandoning Craig, Jimmy is pretty much doing the right thing.

The change to have a laugh-track in the series is honestly pretty funny seeing how the show already had those music tracks and sound effects seen in other multi-camera kids shows (like Ned's Declassified or Big Time Rush for example) This makes me wonder how many other multi-camera shows have laugh tracks, as usually it's the single camera ones that have it.

Back in the 70s, 80s and 90s most American and British sitcoms had an actual studio audience (which is not the same thing as a laugh track) unless the effects of the show were seen as too complicated. For example the show Get A Life with Chris Elliot had a laugh track, while the British sitcom that inspired it, The Young Ones, had an audience. For The Young Ones the production team had 2 days in the recording studio (less complicated audience sitcoms tend to only have one) where they would get all the difficult work done on the first day and have the studio audience recording on the second day, with the audience watching the pre-recorded parts on a monitor. Though sometimes they would add extra laughter if they thought the audience reaction was unsatisfactory for some reason. We don’t have many audience sitcoms left in the UK anymore either, and we’re poorer for it in my opinion.

Honestly, now that I think about it, Out Of Jimmy's Head was trying to be a show similar to Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. Goofy sound effects, having lots of energy, having this live-action/caroony nature, which is ironic as that show didn't have any animation involved (except when the Fairly Oddparents appeared in one episode), and yet that show was super beloved. I think it's because it was one of the few live-action shows to have two 11 minute segments, and that way it can cram as much as possible without being too much. OOJH, however...yeah, it tries to be a 22-minute show like those other sitcoms, and it might have been way too much. Also, good God, using a laugh track doesn't even make sense because it was one of those sitcoms that didn't have a live audience to begin with.

This show is the embodiment of Bile Fascination as listed on TV Tropes to me- like objectively it's hot garbage, but I look at the base idea and everything that went wrong and I can't help but be FASCINATED by it and imagine a world where things went slightly better and it was good. One idea I saw forever back was that Cartoon Network should've used characters from their existing lineup instead of creating the Appleday cast, and ngl i think that could be a pretty cool show! Admittedly licensing would be hell, but what kid HASN'T imagined they're best friends with their favorite cartoon characters, whether it's having them as an imaginary friend or just daydreaming about being their pal?

I'd like to see a video from you on Tower Prep. It was another CN live action show that I really liked.

i'd like to see one on Team Toon as it's a very strange example of a show made in the U.S. that only aired on TV overseas, like Jimmy's Head it combines live-action with animation and most interestingly it features a very young Meg Donnely. It only aired on TV in the UK on their version of Cartoon Network and wasn't seen in the U.S. until it was dumped onto Netflix.

At first i thought this was just cartoon network trying to play catch up with Disney channel and Nickelodeon around this time 😂😂 was more excited for clone wars ben 10 bakugan and new episodes of Naruto on Saturday nights

In the same case how i waited for Johnny Bravo to end so i could watch Ed, Edd n' Eddy, i also waited for this show to end so i could watch Star Wars the Clone Wars.

Honestly, out of all of the live action shows they produced, Level Up was the most decent one. It wasn’t a masterpiece by any means, but the actors looked like they had fun going ham with what they were given.

That was the only other US live action show that aired where I lived, but the ratings were so bad that the last few episodes never aired.

This show was pretty much the dollar store Ned's disclassified school survival guide and the cartoons in this show are pretty much SpongeBob clones(Many people say they are micky mouse clones but they are more similar to SpongeBob than micky mouse), though I would love to see a WWE match between Jimmy Roberts and Ned Bigby.

points for experimenting with doing live action content (This and CN Real, which I heard : Nobody likes) Cartoon Network but yeah its best you guys stick with Cartoons

Oh, This Thing Quite Literally Made Cartoon Network Look So Bad For Even Creating Live-Action Shows In The Fucking First Place, That They Tried To Get It All Lost, Yet 15 Years Later, It Became Found. They Were So Close To Getting Their Own Selves Killed, As They Were Embarrassed By Their Own Actions.

Please Media Mementos do a respective on the series Tower Prep it’s actually one of the Live-Action shows Cartoon Network made that was actually good since it was planned for a season 2 but sadly we never got it and I still hope we get it someday it would be cool if you can talk about it🤙🏼

It was weird how CN had something good and then made it worse when it could've been better. Honestly, the show reminds me of other shows that combined live-action with animation, where there could've been potential for other shows like that to come with quality, but we got what we got.

At the time, I was REALLY jealous of these tween sitcoms getting more attention than cartoons. (It also didn't help that they were so bad that they made 'Saved By The Bell' look like 'Citizen Kane') However when you're Cartoon Network, A channel that prides itself airing animation, and you want to compete with networks that aim for A mainstream audience, there in lies the problem. Cartoon Network could've (and should've) stuck to their guns, but sadly, they gave in, and I will admit that at least ''Re-Animated'/'Out Of Jimmy's Head' tried to have animation in it, but the premise, and the execution fells flat on it's face. Mr. Enter, and Rowdy C already covered this.

Something to note about CNreal, it’s programming was made up entirely of reality or game shows, genres that do not have the same staff as traditional narrative television, which is quite advantageous when there’s an ongoing writer’s strike. Just something to chew on.

Correct me if I’m wrong on this but, out of jimmy’s head was so bad and forgettable, that it didn’t even get a mention in cross over nexus (aka the ok ko episode meant to celebrate cartoon network’s legacy) and that special had such obscure shows like “whatever happened to Robot Jones” and “the moxy show” referenced in there
