I just recently purchased the cali76 standard for bass. Can't wait to try it out. Your videos are superb!! I like the other video you have with the same compressor but you're playing guitar. Such a bad ass!! You have music I can check out somewhere?

I'm currently playing in a few metal bands; Thyresis and Wooden Bridge, in which I play bass, and are respectively melodic death metal and power/prog metal (there are a bunch of videos throughout the channel if you'd like to check them out); and Soturnus, which is doom/death metal, and I'm playing guitar as a live member. Did you run some darkglass as a dirt pedal? And I assume you run it after the compressor, right? Great job btw :)

Yes I did, the B7K Ultra which was my main preamp (going into the Torpedo Live with the power amp simulation turned on), and it was after the compressor. Thanks! :)

Hi can you please explain why you go first to the compressor then to the b7? I would have thought the compressor needs to go second?

I have the same Combo (Cali 76 CB + B7KU V1) Would you mind sharing your B7K settings please especially for Clean tones?

What I usually do is that I boost highs and cut lows through the attack and grunt switches and compensate the excesses with EQ (usually re-boost the low end, which will sound much cleaner now; cut some midrange, both high and low, but specially low; and try to find a sweet spot for the top end). As for drive, I keep around the 12 o'clock ballpark (more or less will depend on what I'm playing), and blend from 80% to max. Let me know if it works for you!

Thanks so much for explaining. Blend is only for the overdriven signal right? So it wouldn't matter to me much if Im only wanting the clean tones?

Blend is a mix knob between your clean sound and the preamp overdriven signal. Even for cleans, drive a good thing to have, as it adds more personality to the tone! Just add until you can hear it, then blend to taste

Yep, it's always on! When it's off, I feel like all I got is an EQ... which is obviously good, but I also want the preamp tone.

Fala, Nicolas! As únicas grandes diferenças entre os dois em termos de funcionalidades são o filtro no sidechain do Cali76 e o fato de que você tem controles isolados de attack e release no Super Symmetry; em termos de eficiência, eu diria que não rola nenhuma diferença que me faça afirmar que prefiro um ou outro. Acho que o Cali76 pode ser mais fácil de setar e chegar num som bom por causa da simplicidade do knob attack/release, mas isso por si só não é razão suficiente pra dizer que ele é necessariamente melhor. Dito tudo isso, tenho dado preferência a usar o SuperSym ao vivo, já que esses Cali76 estão caros demais hoje em dia pra arriscar tirar de dentro de casa 😅 E sim, os SS foi descontinuado, o compressor que a DGE está atualmente fabricando é o Hyper Luminal.

Vou pegar o cali76 pela facilidade então e pelo seu teste na guitarra tbm, sai por 430R$ com frete no aliexpress pela Demonfx (que está na polêmica dos clones) tem o clone também dos preamps da darkglass, se chegar tudo funcionando vai sair mais barato que pegar um preamp e compressor nacionisl novos
