OMG! I was in Vegas working the AIMExpo from the UK and I literally watched this video at my hotel in the evening, as I love this channel as I am looking for a new preamp, and I see Dave, fully dressed as Mario going to the LVL Expo (I presume) at the LV monorail station. I couldn’t believe it and had to introduce myself. We talked bass and bands and it was a fantastic 10-15 minutes or so talking all things bass (at least for me anyway). Thanks for your time Dave and letting me grab a photo to show the folks back home (even the Muse t-shirt fits in as I live in the same county as them in the UK and have shared a stage with them in my very early days). Watched all the videos multiple times (TBC excellent demos + others) and I still can't decide. I'm leaning towards the more subtle Fender box, but the SVT sounds better when cranked (and looks cooler!). Perhaps you guys could do an additional A/B test video, with and without the cab sim. Or not... we'll all just buy both of them anyway Kidneys are overrated :D

This pedal seems great for a quick solution to a tight situation at a gig. My only gripe is that that the cab sim has no on/off option for the xlr out. The cab sim on this sounds fine though. Just weird there's no on/off for the sim when the pedal is engaged.

Great video man! Would you recommend these pedals over any bass amp sofwares like Brainworx SVT, Line 6 SVT etc..? I'm looking for the best way to record a bass in the studio. I've tried amp simulations and they a re great and easy but I want to be closer to the real thing.. I've tried the SVT3 pro and a SVT410HE cab in a good room with good mics but later on mixing we found that the plugin is very close and easier to handle 4 hours later or ath the other day when you want to change something.. BUT, I missed the "3d" feeling that the amp and cab has. So I think this pedals are somewhere in the middle, am I right? Or is this the same as all the softwares? It has the cab sim (and this is the weakest part of any software). Many thanks.

For the sound and features this pedal has, you're better off paying way less for the Tech 21 DI 2112 Geddy Lee pedal. That one sound like a real tube amp. This Origin Effects pedal just sounds like and EQ with distortion.

Love the SABDDI but the dirty sound from that doesn't sound like this one. It IS more expensive than most preamp pedals, though, that's for sure! I think this one would be good if you're sending it to a poweramp instead of a full head - this pedal's price is not so bad if you're using it as half a head.

@@davedixon2167 Yep, it would make sense if you're doing the poweramp thing. I use other pedals for dirty sounds, so for me a pedal like this is first in the chain, DI goes directly to the desk for live if something goes wrong in the chain, and helps me with levels and EQ if I'm ABing different instruments. So I never actually drive these things too much. To me they all sound a little too compressed when going for a distorted sound, so I on't really use them with that in mind.

@@xdoctorblindx i do own the vintage microtubes deluxe and really like the compression... This sounds very similar to me with no compression and a cab sim that you can't turn off. Aren't they all 'ampeg inspired'? Is it half as good as a noble? Good times for bassists!
