I'm talking about someone who is the total package who arrives with originality, amazing singing, songwriting/instrumental prowess. Maybe they are out there somewhere. I'm busy listening to metal. To me, it's the most art-centric genre. I'm not interested in indie preciousness type music, tired of people who call themselves musicians but don't learn to play their instruments beyond a simple level, sing like children. Yes, there are people making weird, idiosyncratic music that exists in their little world. Maybe I will like some of it if I give them another chance. It doesn't have to be mozart, it doesn't have to be total prog. But people like Jeff Buckley make me want to listen to something other than metal sometimes. I like hearing pop that is ambitious without trapping itself in pretentiousness. Not hearing much today that does that.
