The girl singing Dance Monkey is Dani Militante. People tried to accuse her of lyp syncing because her voice was so similar to the original. She was not. She had a few songs on her channel, but sadly has taken down all but one. I wish she would give another try at a music career because her sound is so different from the rest of the powerhouse belters. I really think there is a niche for her if she keeps at it.

Relay singing in the Philippines is caused by shortage of microphone in the county. If the Philippine government says "everyone must get national ID," they say no, but if they are told "everyone gets a microphone," they will elect the person in office.

The thing is, most Filipinos can sing, some sing very good, some are good and the rest simply loves music. But the competition here is fierce that only those that are exceptional, unique and truly dedicated make it. The rest, like the people you've been reacting to sees singing as something you do for fun, for relaxation. Most households have their own karaoke machines, it can be rented for special occasions or you go to a mall me there's always an electronic shop that invites people to sing. And there's always a family member who's the go-to-guy when it comes to these occasions. In my family, it's my son-in-law and my granddaughter.

Most of our households have karaoke. Also, we have live singing TV shows every weekend. Well, most of our noontime TV shows have live singing performances. Then we also have very competitive singing contests in every part of the country. That's where the Filipino live-singing culture came from. Most of us don't just listen to music; we sing it. That's why so many of us can carry a tune, and some are exceptional, like the people in the videos.

The reason why most Filipinos can sing is that if you could remember the inventor of the karaoke machine they say was a Filipino. And I think it is in the culture also. You can see whatever the occsion is whether it is a wedding, birthday, get together of friends, there is always a videoke machine & microphone available!

Filipinos love to sing extremes because the mindset is usually "if u cannot sing the highest, u are not a good singer"; and if a Pinoy can belt high notes, family or friends would challenge them to sing the lowest notes. If they cannot beat the highest and/or lowest among their friends or acquaintances or even their "competitors", they feel they aren't good enough. But don't get me wrong..these are just pastimes for them. No hard feelings involved. Defeat is usually what made these singers determined..they practice all the time...and also FYI.. majority of these singers are good dancers, too. They aren't contented being called a singer, but a total performer/entertainer. ☺️

In our church, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ), we are singing hyms in our worship services. We have solo, duet, trio, cuartet & choral group competitions in small area, then, in bigger area (inter local), region, now, competing other districts, worldwide. Singing is one of our hobbies.
