I don't know what Transport Minister Bouchard, and Prime Minister Mulroney were thinking when they slashed service in western Canada, they should left everything alone.

Did The Canadian's dining car stay in Sudbury after the split into 2 sections, one Toronto on Montreal, or did the Montreal section keep the diner but no Park car?

Substantial video, pure Canadiana. I'm curious to know where the 'multi-Budd Car'(4) train runs to and from? In this video it's seen along the east/west Lakeshore line.
@haweater1555 Жыл бұрын
Some trains west of Toronto were RDC, Kitchener / Stratford / London. In that case if it's on the Lakeshore then it's deadheading from Union to the maintenance centre.

14:05 The train of 6 RDCs is possibly the consist of 2 trains together that had arrived in the morning and now deadheading to TMC. Either London, or Niagara Falls or Peterborough trains.

@@haweater1555 Sweet. Thank you for that. I can now recall riding an 'all' RDC Budd car train (with my wonderful Aunt whom recently passed away at 100) from Toronto to London roundabout 1972.

Train 9 the Canadian heading to Capreol to meet up with the continental train 1 from Ottawa and North Bay! As later that year The Canadian train became 1 and went North west to NewMarket and then to Washago But I do miss the old days, VIA GO ON CN and CP passing by Union station

I had no idea so many RDC's were in use by VIA. Interesting to see them and also the all blue livery VIA trains. Here in the west the consists were usually mixed stainless steel and ex-CN blue with the gold stripe, which in my opinion, spoiled the streamlined look of the train.

45:14 Now I know why the Raised Letter K5LAs today sound so bad. These GO Transit K5LAs I know were corked but this little snippet here is all I need to know. Micro Precision may just need to de-cork them a bit.
@DeepChillWolf2 жыл бұрын
That isn't how the Corker or Doubletag K5LAs is supposed to sound. These horns were specially tuned by Robert Swanson, and the featured unit in this video was likely fouled. Bad title. This wasn't VIA's final days--they're still in business--but the final days for SOME trains due to budget cutbacks, notably the Canadian.
