Back to that Viking helmet with the glasses, I think there’s a possibility that we finally get to separate hats and helmets from facial wear like glasses, face masks, etc. I know it’s a big leap but it makes more sense than pairing a medieval Viking helmet with chic modern sunglasses. It would be really cool to be able to pair facial wear with hats and helmets, but that’s complete speculation. Let me know what you guys think about this concept

A fun little thing I noticed during the train scene in the trailer, is that the Jelly is flopped on their seat, signifying how tired they are, and they seem more gray than blue which I think means they're dehydrated because of the lack of water, seen throughout the trailer. Hey Vian, Aside from changing "eye brows", voice and animation, it also change the "eye contour" of the Octoling : the male and female Octaling does not have the same contour shape. Also in Splatoon 2, the body of male/female character model is not exactly the same : hips, chest, thighs... there is a slight difference between the two. It will probably be the same in Splatoon 3, even thaugh it is not realy seeable in this trailer. My personnal opinon is that the choice between the gender will stay the same in Splatoon 3 as before, but they will not specify "boy" or "girl" and they will let us customise everything else as we want.

Just an observation, the possible new idols for Splatoon3 could be the ink colors yellow and purple, because thats the theme for the Splatoon3 logo. Like splatoon2, it was light pink and turquoise symbolizing Pearl and Marina. Just a theory :D

Guys I have a theory. In Splatoon 2s sunken scroll theres a page on salmonoids, apparently 7 rings appear in the sky causing salmon rushes. Since the salmon pet appears as a main part of this game, perhaps this new inkling might be names agent 7 after the rings, in the same way agent 8 was because of her id. Have the number be relevant to their story type of thing. This could mean that we might see this part of the lore being explored! Also this is a great time in the games for a new hair salon style shop, affording people way more customisation, maybe being able to change style or the colour of the tentacle ends? Speaking of shops, the new city seems to be a lot larger, maybe its time for apartments, or even a pet shop? Also sheldon's logo was on the front of the train and on a shop in the city, suggesting his return? The splatoon 2 twitter and instagram has a lot of info, like the name of the city and stuff, and apparently its far away from inkopolis. To me that suggests that most of the stages are going to have to be new. Also the tall jellies in the plaza are from the onto expansion. Last thing! This game looks really polished, and i can't believe they'd be able to make such a quality world in such short time, and so i think that the team actually had an idea going into the game. Instead of the final splatfest dictating what the game would be like, maybe it only affected what part of the game we'd get first? We see the world in chaos, but maybe in dlc we can travel via train to another city and see Marina's world in a separate style? Anyway thanks for reading this far! Have a nice day!!

Wow. I love the theory on Agent 7, especially the nod to the Sunken Scrolls WHICH APPARENTLY ONLY I READ I SAID MR. GRIZZ WAS SPYKE PEOPLE. Sorry. It's just that Sheldon already is Agent 7. While they never say it in game, it's pretty obvious. He was added at the right time and if he wasn't that would make him the only character to know about the New Beak Splatoon, but not be an Agent. I wish he was Agent 10, too, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Theory: When we beat the story mode, you get the cape as gear, so it’s not just a way of revealing your character during the customization. And maybe the cape will be attached to your starter gear (AKA the gear we see the protagonist in at the start of the trailer), for example, if the shirt’s called “Ripped Tee”, you could get something called “Ripped Tee + Cape” or something like that

Regarding the ripped pants, I think the Gal's pants is just clipping. The rip morphs in a way that doesn't seem natural, and therefore unintentional. As for the Hydra, in the battle intro we see them with their legs facing away. Seeing as how these rips seem more frequent and intentional, I believe its just that we cant see them in the intro, but if we were to turn the camera, they'd be there. As for the style picking, I think its going to effect animations as well and its not just picking eyebrows. After selecting the very first style and moving onto picking hairstyle, and before they scroll back to the first option, they hover over the inkling boy hair from splatoon 1. I think this is a nod that we're going to be able to pick all hairstyles regardless of the main style we choose. Going back to the animations thing, I imagine some animations and sounds will change depending on the style you decide upon. Inkling boys and girls (from what I can tell) have slightly different animations. So really this is less about "picking a gender" and more "how you wanna present yourself". Of course this is my interpretation, I'm just glad pearl won so hard that she got rid of gender, and that we're getting funny squid game 3.

Something I hope for is that your Switch remembers the design choices you made for Agent 4 and Agent 8. Assuming there’s a plot element similar to Agent 3’s appearance in Octo Expansion where you had to remake your character from Splatoon 1, it would make it so much easier if the Switch just carried over data from Splatoon 2 so you wouldn’t have to remember every detail you made. This would be super helpful for people like me that like to establish their own version of the Splatoon canon and it would help us connect more with the game’s world and characters

Part of me has to wonder if Nintendo plans to include more - new that is - customization options in the future; we already got a handful, and with the game not expected to release until 2022, it’s possible Nintendo could have more in the works! The theories you posed about the ripped legwear might just be clipping, but at the same time I noticed the chins on the octoling girl had rips too; maybe Nintendo is considering the possibility of having clothes rip throughout battles? I’m also curious about the hairstyles. Although this is very unlikely in the game due to how separate inklings and octolings are by nature, I have seen people do “Inktolings” in animations; is it even slightly possible that Nintendo could let us put octoling hairstyles on inklings and vice-versa?

tbh i still think that theres going to be genders since both the walk and how the character looked like was more feminine while a male would usually walk like that and if i am correct males also have thicker eyebrows. Please do not take this the wrong way i just wanted to clarify this because many people are saying that theyre getting rid of gender but (for me) it doesnt look like any game company would do that anytime soon, if anything theyll just add a non binary option.

Presentation doesn't equate to gender. What people are liking is how, even though the presentations still tend to lean to feminine and masculine, they just use "style", rather then the word "gender". So even if you make your inkling/octoling rather feminine or masculine the game won't try to insist that they're explicitly male or female or anything. Incidentally, making a customisable avatar without genders is entirely plausible and Ninjala is an example of that: literally nothing is gender-locked (not clothes, not hair, not faces, not even voices) and there's no direct assigning a gender/style for your Avatar (closest you get is picking one of the main eight as a starting point for how your Avatar looks, but there's still no gender mechanic)

Genders are still here, for the word style actually refers to Inkling or Octoling. And also, I really don't think they're going to add a non-binary option, and here's why: 1. Male and Female are more like sex options than gender options. You're choosing a set of physical features, more so than anything else 2. None of the customisable features, like hair, pants, etc are gender-locked, so the non-binary option is useless

Maybe the Viking helmet doesn't actually come with glasses... Maybe you can wear a hat at the same time as a pair of glasses/a mask... This was impossible in previous games, unless a hat already came with another accessory. I've always wanted to combine hats and facial wear in Splatoon, so if there's an option to do that, whether for show or for a stat boost, it would make my life.

Important note about the pants at 6:54, they don't match *any* of the presets shown in the starting selection screen at 4:43. They are skintight, have none of the team color showing, and have no overskirt/overshorts. All of the ones shown in the starting customization menu don't match up due to at least one of these three factors. Conclusion: There are more pants customization options in the game than what is shown in the starter menus. Possibly because the menus scroll farther than what we see in the trailer, possibly because some options are unlocked through gameplay and in-game shops. This might also apply to other customizations, like hair and eye colors, since the octoling highlighted at 4:55 also seems to have an eye color that doesn't match the shown presets, a very pale yellow-green with extremely light pupils, although that could just be video artifacts due to the extreme zoom in (or maybe glasses, but I can't see any frames so idk).

Sex is biological, while gender is a total social construct that only now is finally being separated from sex. so basically, you just get to decide what your character is for yourself without a title already applied to them
