The Pearl Harbor reference is true. A marina is a type of harbor, therefore the names are translated to "Pearl Harbor." Edit: Also, Shiver and Frye continue this, as a shiver is a group of sharks, and Shiver uses a shark to fight you during Return of the Mammalians, and a frye is a group of eels, and Frye uses eels to battle you. Edit #2: The gear randomization sound effect is the GameCube startup effect, true, but it is in a different key.
