He was truly exceptional and known for giving tunes to lyrics in record breaking time. Anarkali(1953) , producer came to him and requested to give tunes in short time. He took the challenge. He used to travel by Mumbai local train. From Churchgate to Goregaon and then later one more hour, you won't believe, he gave tunes to NINE(9) songs out of 11 total songs. Imagine giving tunes to 9 songs out of 11 in just 2 hrs.

True. Anarkali's producer wanted Naushad or some other music director but due to some reason it didn't work. Last couple of weeks, it came to C Ramchandra. People won't believe but 7 songs he composed in record time of 3 Hrs. 2 hours in train from recording studio to director's house and one more hour from director house to his house.

He was a really great music director with a great voice, and even then he sought the singers he thought would be most appropriate for the songs. He got the wonderful melodious Padmashri Hemant Kumar, and versatile Padmavibhushan Manna Dey for some of his beautiful compositions which shows how graceful, how humble, and how much discerning he was. He was truly a genius, in good company with the great Shree Pankaj Mullick, the great Mian Shree Naushad Ali Saheb, and the great Sachin Dev Burman. These music maestros created the golden era of the music which was started the towering genius one and only Kamal Dad Gupta (who has composed an incredible 8,000 songs), and the master Shri Khemchand Prakash. Many many Pranams to these blessed sons of Mother Sarswati! One can write books on them! Such were the original music maestros of the first golden era of the Indian Movie (as well as non-movie) music. It's a great luck and privilege to have been exposed to music of these great composers.

Great human being, simple, sober, but a superb singer and composer. I think his voice matches with Talat Mehmood. In my college days I lost a bet with my friend bcoz of this similarity. Kitana hasi hai, mausam kitana hasi safar hai, sathi hai khoobsurat from Azad , i was sure it's sung by Talat, and I ultimately lost. Thanks Ramchandrji for giving us many moments to cherish.
