Thanks for the great video. I just replaced both of mine on my 2004. My pre sensor actually looked like your post sensor. Now just waiting to reset the codes.

My downstream is stuck. Another video says I need to run the car to heat it up down there. I was under the impression that you had to do this with the engine cold.
@victortorres22545 жыл бұрын
My downstream was very stuck. Would not move for anything. I ended up cutting the wires and slipping a 22mm wrench on it for better grip. Called my bro to get under car with me for extra leverage.

Great video with super detailed instructions. Bout to do this on my son-in-law 2006 Vibe. Got a question and I know I am a bit late, 8 years late and not sure if you can answer this. Do you know where I can get the 8-Point Torx Socket to fit that your o2 Sensor socket during the Post o2 removal or do you know the size of that torx bit. Been searching for 2 weeks for a large Torx Bit Set. BIG THANKS!

This is great . Thank you. My celica gts have the exact engine. 1. And here is my question. Is this the oxygen / gas ratio sensor? It is right ? 2. When i went to purchase one at my local auto parts. They asked me if i wanted the " before " or " after" catalytic converter sensor. ?? From what i can tell. U replaced the " before" sensor. 3. Did u also change the after calytic converter ? 4. Do i also need to change that ? Why / why not? Thank you.

Thanks for posting and amazing video. I have a P0137 (low voltage on O2 sensor) and the fun engine light warning that comes with it. It doesn't say what bank or what number and was wondering if anyone knew how to find out? Before I go full on and replace both! 🤣

Thanks for your help, I have a P0136 and already replaced the sensor after catalytic but the light still on, any idea?

I've spent about 2 hours looking for this thing on my Vibe GT. Is it possible the location is different?

I had trouble with removing the pre-cat o2 sensor with my o2 socket (Lisle 12390) because it could not reach deep enough below the plate.(only 1 cm) and another I bought (OEM 25001) is too long (8 cm) to fit between the sensor and the firewall. Your socket seems perfect. What's the make/model?

Upstream: 234-9052 -- Downstream: 234-4233
@rickdear8 жыл бұрын
Hi, Im hearing different terminology pertaining to these sensors. Which sensor is bank one, and which is bank two. Or which is upstream and which is down stream. Or does it matter which one you use.
@lustderf8 жыл бұрын
It matters which one you use, the two sensors perform slightly different functions and have two different part numbers. The upstream is next to the engine ( pre catalytic convertor), the post stream sensor is further away (after exhaust passes through one more catalytic convertors). The upstream takes a sample of unprocessed exhaust, the downstream takes a gas sample after the gasses have been "processed" by the catalytic convertor, measuring the process effectiveness.

My Vibe is a 2003, and for my year at least, the O2 sensors are NOT A strongpoint. It burns through these fairly frequently, replacing 2 sensors every few years. I wish I knew that sensors aren't some uber-complicated, secret piece of alien hardware that only witch doctors know the location of. O2 sensors are not hard to find, don't require a shop sized lift to replace or a lot of tech know how. They're easy.

im lost so the FWD has the sensor next to the motor, and the AWD under the chasis? correct?
@lustderf9 жыл бұрын
+alphaphotoandvideo Would need someone with an AWD to confirm, from what I have found due to the way the exhaust is routed in an AWD, the under car sensor has a longer wired lead. To make room for the drive shaft the exhaust components on the AWD some item including the O2 sensor were configured differently.

There are 2 one forward the cat. conv, one after..
@upr1ght9706 жыл бұрын
Fred/Alpha...on my '04 AWD the wire for the downstream sensor (post-cat) is routed under the front passenger seat. The penetration/boot is about 4" forward of where the front passenger door meets the center pillar...roughly under the front passenger's left butt cheek. The first sensor is pretty much as shown for the FWD...behind the exhaust manifold, top rear of engine compartment. Mine came with a heat shield around it, like one of those "lamp shades" they put on pets necks to keep them from chewing their stitches. (bought the car used, so don't know if that was original ....does a good job of isolating the ceramic and wiring from the upward flow of heat.) GREAT video...thanks!

+MrJVisionz Would require more information. Any engine codes, does it sputter just after starting, all the time. Was there any other recent changes.

@@lustderf mine will rev quickly up and down periodically dnw. Also Car squeaks when in first gear going slow when I let off gas and lurches forward a bit... Any thoughts? Sometimes when going over bumps as well. Seems to be more of a sudden forward orstopping motion problem not up and down...
