Hi Ray, I happened on your reactions by chance when you only had the first 2 Elvis songs and have stayed up until 1 A.M. several times to see the next one. It has been such a thrill to see you notice the most minute details that I missed all these years because I was staring at his face only. I knew that every move he makes with every part of his body is conducting the band and a song never ends until he ends it, but you see everything on the whole stage. I told someone how fun it is to see you falling in love with Elvis, then a few days later you actually said it. Talking of 'dick jokes', listen how he sings 'and I'm left here on a bone' instead of 'on my own'. He did a lot of this in rehearsals but not on stage as he knew his audience was of all ages. You're right that newer artists should take a leaf and see the humility of this guy. There are a lot of artists/actors who are a lot less famous but have treated people arrogantly, refuse autographs etc. Every account of EP even to this day from people who actually met him is of how genuine he was. He never refused autographs, he came down to the gates at Graceland and Beverly Hills to speak to fans, always spoke to janitors and folk who worked at the hotels, the minions rather than the big cheeses. He had flaws like everyone does but he had a good heart and was raised to respect others. 😊

When God created my friend Elvis he was just showing off. I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Elves wasn’t spacing out, he was looking at Lamar, the RCA Victor mgr over Elvis’ recordings. He was in the seating area. The one he joked to earlier. Lamar would continually talk, joke, and squawk at Elvis while they were in the Vegas main show room rehearsing. Elvis would make jokes of him or joke back. Here he was focusing on what was going on between Lamar and the other RCA official. They did rehearsal in the main show room so the Philharmonic Orcaster could practice with them. The first time Joe the conductor practiced with them, one asked him, “how did you like practicing with Elvis”. He answered, “man it like chasing a marble down the stairs”. If you’ve ever tried to chase a marble down non-carpeted stairs you know what it’s like. Elvis sped most songs up and he’d freestyle a lot. They had to keep their eyes on him all the time. And in the Vegas shows you can see the band is literally glue to him, and Elvis had a gift to know everybody’s part. Every single note. Even in the movies they said he’d show up ready not only knowing his script but everyone’s else’s too.

When Elvis heard Joe’s comment about chasing a marble, I mentioned just prior, he fill Joe’s dressing room with marbles so when he opened the door, all these marbles came pouring out. Elvis did it in fun, but it also was like saying, you only have one marble to chase. Keep, your eyes on me. That way of playing was very new for an orcaster, so it really stretched Joe the conductor. But they did awesome together over the years.
