I feel the exact same way Karen...when Elvis was with us it made me think that no matter what terrible things were going on in the world ....everything was going to turn out OK because he was here. I know these feelings don't make sense to many people but it was how I felt and I think others felt the same way..❤

I don't know why but I love when he says "okay". Like I'm ready. He does that all the way back to his early recordings. I wish they would give us more of these moments that may be in a vault somewhere.

I’d have thrown myself at him, just being honest . Awww they probably didn’t realise it at the time , but how privileged were all his band. OMG I bet they could tell us some stories and I bet some stories they will take to the grave with them . Oh I hope there is Heaven so I can go find Elvis. Firstly though I will find my mother and father. Another great reaction . Thank you

I loved it Ray. Most people think Elvis just came in and sang, but he was executive producer of all his music. He often changed and created arrangements with the director. I hope you will do his rehearsal footage where he is talking to the girls. "Elvis Presley talks to the Sweet Inspirations"/words. He was so sweet to them. Cissy Huston(Whitney's mother) said when they called from Elvis' group to come sing with him they thought. No. But it was a great offer and good money, so they went, and when he walked in the first rehearsal, their jaws dropped he was so beautiful. Thanks ray, you do some fab reactions.

What's great about this video is that it's complete. The original version that appeared in "That's the way it is" was heavily edited, the 2nd half of the rehearsal was not included. "Leon" does a great job with these videos by finding the unused film and splicing them together to give a complete unedited version.

This was fantastic ! I can never get over how they used to record music, vocals and background on a take all at once!! And they sound perfect everytime except when they want to change something. Those were the days. At least with Elvis anyway. Now it seems everything is recorded one sentence at a time, and music separate and background separately. Blows my mind!!!

Some of Elvis's EARLY Recordings Were "Spliced" Together -- Steve Sholes- the producer - Elvis was almost in a plane crash When recording "I want you, I need you, I love you" and didn't have a good day in the studio so Steve Spliced it sent it to the executives as the MASTER and they liked it not knowing it was Spliced ----

The sunlight on her golden hair, and then the moonlight on her hair. Sigh. And third, unfortunately, your Telegram scammer is back with the "You've won a prize" bullshit. Folks - do not respond - it is not coming from Ray. Hope you're able to get rid of him. Can't wait for the next reaction. PEACE KP

THANK YOU MISS JENNIFER 💜🙏🌹💜🙏🌹💜🙏🌹💜🙏🌹 ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITES! AND RAY THAT'S WHAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN SAYIN'! YOU & ELVIS WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE 2 PEAS IN A POD I SWEAR TO GOD! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ANOTHER RELVISIFIED CERTIFIED GOLD 💛💐💛💐💛💐💛💐 Okay, so two stories in one here: The first was told by Miss Millie Kirkham known as the "Nashville Soprano" as well as the honorific "The 6th Jordanaire". She sang back up for Elvis from the 1957 to 1970. The soaring soprano you heard here during this rehearsal? That was Miss Millie Kirkham. 1970 would be the last year she'd work with Elvis. They had a 13 year long friendship. She said Elvis & her were more than employer/ employee. They were friends, having bonded almost immediately from the start through a mutual deep love for music. Miss Millie & Elvis NEVER had anything romantic or sexual between them. Not at all. They were strictly friends, good friends. So having given the proper background, let me commence with the story! Elvis first heard Miss Millie Kirkham's "high soprano" on a little known country track called "Gone" recorded by Ferlin Husky. Elvis wanted to know who "that sweet voice" belong to and asked Gordon Stoker, a member of The Jordainaires (Elvis's hand- picked all male back up vocal group who worked with Elvis from January 1956 to 1972). Gordon Stoker told Elvis, "Why, that's Miss Millie Kirkham. She's the "Nashville Soprano"." Elvis asked Gordon Stoker, "Do you think she'd like to work with someone like me?" Gordon Stoker told Elvis, "I don't see why any reason why she wouldn't." Now do keep in we are talking about a 22 year old Elvis Presley who, in 1957, was as loved by his fans as he was vilified by a good many other folks. Elvis most likely was aware and sensitive to how he was portrayed by some in the media. Not all were kind to him. But as Gordon Stoker said of Elvis when it come to others criticizing him, "He knew when to turn it off. He never said a word about it to anyone. His Mama taught him that." Others in separate interviews had said the same thing about Elvis: If the criticisms bothered him, he never said. His advice to one person who was hurt by the criticisms of others towards her was this, "Kill it in your head and move on. They don't know you so why worry over what strangers have to say about you." So anyway, moving on with the story: Miss Millie Kirkham is put on a plane and flown out to California. Her first ever recording session with Elvis was "Blue Christmas". So she walks into the studio and Elvis sees her and the way she told it he looked a bit surprised. As she said chuckling, "He wasn't expecting a pregnant woman to show up." Miss Millie Kirkham was obviously pregnant, six months pregnant in fact. Elvis then says, "Someone please get this lady a chair." The way she told it was, all of a sudden several chairs were presented to her. She also said that Elvis had told her and the others to be as silly as possible for the recording of "Blue Christmas". Elvis actually did not want to record the song. So he thought if everyone hammed it up enough RCA wouldn't want to release the recording on his 1957 Christmas album. Elvis was wrong about that and ironically it became a hit for him. In fact, to this day, Elvis's 1957 Christmas album is still the best- selling Christmas album in record history. Miss Millie said that several months later she came back to work for Elvis for another recording session, "You know I thought looked all slim and trim and Elvis comes up to me and asks, "Did ya ever have that baby?" She laughed and went on to say, "He had a great sense of humor." And when a young man got a chance to ask Miss Millie Kirkham about working with Elvis for his 1970 documentary film "That's The Way It Is" he asked her a question about Elvis. "Did he pick the outfits for you and the other ladies?" Miss Millie Kirkham replied, "Oh no. Elvis let us ladies pick our own stage outfits. I don't know what I was thinking picking a mini skirt. My legs were terrible." As Gordon Stoner said during a separate interview about his experience working with Elvis, "You know The Jordanaires worked with people from all over the world, but Elvis was different. Singers usually come in knowing the songs they want to record and we all get to work and just record the songs and the singer leaves. Elvis would walk in and shake hands with everyone there and say something to every person to make them laugh. Elvis would hang out with everyone and get everyone comfortable you know. He didn't care about the clock or studio time. And we didn't either cuz we were getting paid by the hour. Not by the number of songs we recorded with a singer. But that's just who Elvis was really." I'll try to provide the link to a Miss Millie Kirkham interview where she talks more in depth about her first time working with Elvis. And Ray I already know that some are gonna feel a way about what you said on women being emotional. Now I'm a lady and I can tell you for sure the reason why I got so deeply hooked to Elvis was because of the he say he made me feel, and continues to make me feel. So putting into context what you said, yep, you're 100% right FACTS! TCB ⚡ & TLC ❤ & peace ✌& blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕 P.S. I saw her tell that story, it was funny. Also, I can't remember who told the story but supposedly on the set of Jailhouse Rock he came in and sat at the piano and was singing gospel songs and the higher ups told everyone don't let him sing we need to get to work. (Obviously, I'm paraphrasing and shortening up the story). He got pissed and left the studio and didn't come back til the next day. Do you know that story?

@@sammy_the_uncool2702 You do not know the rabbit holes I've been down! I was 9 when Elvis died and of course like everyone you remember when the news came on the old black and white floor console t.v. that this guy named Elvis died. That's my only memory of him and that awful picture that they displayed. When the movie came out, I was like I want to go see it. I was never an Elvis fan because of my age. My dad was into Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Well, after I saw the movie, I went searching and was like wait a minute here, there was a young handsome Elvis? (I know obviously we were all young once LOL). I've read at least 14 books, watched every documentary, read every interview I can find, and then some.

@@cherylspencer8024 I can relate. Kind of. Elvis died several years before I was born. I knew who he was. My Aunt was a fan. My grandmother liked him. Though my Aunt was definitely the Elvis fan of the two. But I never gave Elvis the time of day growing up. In my own head I poo- pooed the guy. Then in 2020 I discovered him for myself (long- ish story) and the first time I saw an Elvis performance (on YT obviously) I was like, "Oh my God I have no idea what I just witnessed but I need more!" So it was after that that I started going down the Elvis rabbit hole and really researched him and his music. So yep can totally relate!

I think you know more about him in 3 years than I do after 63 years!!! Thank you for taking the time and care to share your depth of knowledge. It was quite common for Elvis to show up hours late for rehearsals. There were times when they'd sit and wait all day for Elvis to show up. And then when he finally arrived, instead of jumping right into rehearsals, he'd want to just hang out and sing gospel music for hours before getting into rehearsing. At first glance one might think how rude and inconsiderate. Until one found out why he did that. You see he knew they were getting paid for the time they spent being there, whether they were rehearsing or waiting on him. This way they got paid a lot more than if he'd just showed up on time and gotten right into rehearsals.

For whatever reason they tried to hide Elvis' sense of humor from the public in the 70s. Probably to maintain Elvis' image and the censors. Now that these outtales are available everywhere the public is able to get a different view of how Elvis really was. I love Elvis' sense of humor.

"The most aggravating thing in the world is when workers don't want to work" That's aggravating for sure but not the most aggravating thing in the world. The most aggravating thing in the world is when the hard workers are dogged by management while their coworkers who don't want to work get away with it like they're protected from on high no matter what they do or don't do. Talk about demoralizing.
