Regrettably, the show where he broke down laughing through most of the song was not taped so they've tried to compile other videos to make them fit. He laughs through entire song & says at the end something like 14 years right down the drain. You cut it off before he said that. The story is that there was a guy in the front who waved his toupee when Elvis said bald head & it cracked Elvis up so much he just plain lost control. Oh to have that entire song on tape.

@@sherilynn2448 this is recorded 26 august, 1969 in Las Vegas. There was no official video of all 69 shows at all. the clips in the reactionvideo all are from other live renditiions (of are you lonesome tonight) from On Tour 1972 and In Concert 1977 filled with other clips and photos. Elvis’ laughing fit got worse as the background singer Cissy Houston, mother of Whitney, ignored his laughter and continued singing her high soprano part. Listen Ray, I am 80 I have loved Elvis since 1956. I have watch his career and know more about him than I do myself. He met her when in Germany when she was 14. He saw her for a few months and then left the Army for Graceland she says there was no sex involved he respected her age. She didn't even come to Graceland until she was almost 17 with he parents consent. I was married at her age. Those were different times especially in the south. She moved in with his father and his new wife Dee. She was 21 when he married her and she was a virgin. It is in her book. She got involved with the Church of Scientology and gives them a lot of money. Money is all she thinks about now. Even sued her own Granddaughter again Lisa's will. Elvis never spoke I'll of her in public when she ran off with his Karate instructor. He generously supported her and Lisa till he died. Priscilla wants money and that's all. Why do you think Lisa too Priscilla out of running the estate. Thanks

Elvis fan base will never die...a real fan has done their reasearch and does not listen to B.S. Priscilla is his ex wife and did a tremendous amount of things for her, her family, her friends and still lives a life of luxury 40 something years after his death living from his name...something he did not want her to do. Nothing she says will ever reduce the fans and love that exists in this life for him. Priscilla is also far from perfect, she is just trying to keep her cash flow.

That story about the guy in the audience was long ago disproved. Several band members and the backup singers said Elvis just laughed at himself for singing the “goofy lyrics” onstage. (Apparently he had sung them when rehearsing ). He started laughing at himself and then everyone started laughing. Elvis was known for not being able to stop laughing. This is apparently what actually happened. **(He also was amazed at the female soprano who kept on singing perfectly without a laugh. I’m not sure whether it would have been Millie Kirkham or Kathy Westmoreland)

Where'd you hear them say that? Haven't seen nor heard anything to that effect....unless I've missed a crucial piece of info. I agree with you totally and some of the things she has said in the past is horrible because his daughter had to hear that just so she could get attention and money. Please handing her daughter over to Scientology. Elvis knew what she was about that’s why he didn’t leave anything to her in his will other then being the executor for Lisa Marie until she was 25. That should’ve been the end of her but she still had to remain involved because she’s nothing without that Presley name.. Her poor son has had to live with being second best because he wasn’t a Presley. Sorry to rant but I just don’t like her.

The story behind this laugh was supposedly happened in one of his Vegas shows where a guy in the front row lifted his hair piece and showed Elvis his bald head and the laughing attack started from there and he continue and subsequently continued to laugh at how Kathy Westmoreland didn't break character and continued to keep singing despite the fact that Elvis couldn't stop laughing. This is what I heard with the research on this laughing moment. I heard it hit the charts in England despite the fact that it had been in the world of music for years but England and I (believe) it charted higher in England with the laughing version than the original non-laughing one. They are both great and it should have charted in America.

The woman with the beautiful high voice is back-up singer Kathy Westmoreland. She is not part of the Sweet Inspirations. I saw her about 10 years ago, along with Elvis' original drummer DJ Fontana, and singer Ronnie McDowell, who released a song called The King is Gone a few days after Elvis' death. All of them had aged and turned gray like most of us. Miss Westmoreland told the story when she first met Elvis. She said he was always so respectful and nice. When they first met at a recording studio. She was pregnant with her first child. She walked into the room where they were all meeting. There was only one chair and it wad occupied. I don't recall her saying who was sitting there, but Elvis made him get up and give his seat to Miss Westmoreland. She said he was always courteous, generous, and kind. You know with all the negative controversy surrounding Elvis, still 46 years after his death, one thing occurs to me. I never ever heard Elvis say a bad word about anyone, although I'm sure there were stories that could be told. Whether it was out of loyalty, respect, or love, he never said a negative word about anyone. There was enough good in Elvis, that his memory has and will continue to survive. Elvis will never be forgotten and will never be dethroned as "The King of R&R" because of the type of person he was. If you get a chance, listen to The King is Gone by Ronnie McDowell. It's a great song.❤

i've heard one version of the story behind Elvis cracking up. I'm not 100% sure if this is true or not but hey, story time with me right. Ok, here it goes. Elvis was singing and changed the lyrics to make it funny about gazing one's bald head and wishing they had hair. Well, the story goes that a guy in the audience who was wearing a wig decided to take it off and show Elvis his bald head. Well this crack up Elvis during the middle of the song and really quite never got over it through the entire song. I don't know if the guy kept teasing and showing Elvis his bald head by putting back the wig on and taking it off. And that's what I heard occurred during that show captured in this recording.

If I cried for a long time she would play his music and I would go to sleep. At 5 years old I used to sneak the album cover with his picture on it and sleep with it. YES! Most beautiful laugh in the whole world for sure, Ray 🌻😊🌞💛💕 I have nothing to say here. Ray, you said it ALL. I don't need to put in my two cents. Well I will say I do not pay any mind to Priscilla. Nor do I plan on watching that movie. Priscilla got to tell her side. Since 1985 she has been telling her side of the story. It's old news. She has obviously moved on A LONG TIME AGO. (She had been with Garibaldi for 20 years with whom she had a son, Navarrone. She is no longer with Garibaldi. They went their separate ways.) Elvis, on the other hand, he never got the chance to tell HIS side of the story. And Ray you are right, absolutely: Elvis was a human being and no he was not perfect. But from all the research I have done, I came away with this: Everyone who worked with Elvis and anyone who was close with Elvis all said they learned the same thing from him: How to treat others with consideration and kindness. That's real facts. I'm not even joking. That's real. So many who knew Elvis have said that in interviews. His own family members- his cousin Billy Smith and his wife and kids all said it too when asked a question about what did they learn from Elvis, and they all said, "The importance of treating everyone with respect." I forget the exact words, but they still went in depth about this lecture Elvis gave to his baby cousin about never looking down on someone because their station in life or because of their occupation. Elvis actually told him, "A mechanic is just as deserving of respect from his fellow humans as a CEO of Shell Oil is. It makes no difference what a man wears to work or how much he makes. You treat everyone as you would have them treat you." And during a Hollywood 1962 interview when asked by a reporter what is the most important he would teach his son (Elvis was not married or had kids at this time), Elvis answered, "Well if I did have a son... I don't have kids yet- but, uh... If I did have a child the most important thing I'd try teach him or her is to be considerate of others' feelings." At the beginning of that interview Elvis said in reply to another question, "I try treat others as I would like them to treat my loved ones. It's no problem. It's not a big effort." So there you have it. This is the human being that Elvis was. Not perfect. Far from. But kind? Considerate? Generous? Yes. To all of those. We all can try a little kindness towards each other. It's not a great big effort to do that. My rant is over now, I'm done 😂 THANK YOU JENNIFER AKA HOUNDDOG FOR THIS ONE 💜🙏🌹💜🙏🌹💜🙏🌹💜🙏🌹 AND THANK YOU RAY SO SO MUCH FOR BEING OUR SPOKESPERSON YOU ARE 🎶TOO MUCH🎶 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 SIR FACTS 💯 TCB ⚡ & TLC ❤ & peace ✌& blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕

********* this version from 1969, but Elvis had this as a running joke until he died in 1977. Problem being, the last concert where elvis was sick & bloated from the prescribed meds, when he did this song & pretended to forget words & stumble, people now think it's because of his condition. They didn't know Elvis was doing a routine.

I really appreciate your reactions and the love that you have for EP. Things are a little stressful now with Prissy coming out with her movie. It's a rehash of her tell-all book, but I'm sure she'll come up with some previously "undisclosed" sceanrios to disparage him yet again. The only difference between this and the former TV series, etc. is that this one has "her name in the title." Maybe this will finally satisfy her vanity! I thought I would post a FUNNY STORY for you from Nancy Rooks, one of EP's maids. I'll tell you a story. Elvis had a Black yardman. He got sick and broke his leg, OK? So, he hired this White man to do the yard while the Black guy was out sick. So, when the Black guy come back, the White guy had to be dismissed. So he (the White guy) goes over to his (Elvis') Daddy's house and tells his Daddy, "Well, you got rid of me. You fired me for this Black man." He told him "We've been having him for a long time. He's been working for us for a long time. He was just out sick. You was here temporarily. We told you this at the beginning." He said "I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm going over there and kick Elvis' ass!" So Mr. Vernon say "What you say?" "I'll tell you what I'm doing. I'm going over there and kick his ass. I want him to meet me at the gate down there. I'm on my way." Mr. Vernon calls and told me. I answered the phone. I goes upstairs and get him. I tell Mr. Elvis this guy is comin' down to the gate and says he's gonna kick your ass." Mr. Elvis say "That sounds good to me!" He had his pajamas on. He said "Give me my robe." He comes on down the steps. He said "I'm goin' down to the gate and meet him." He was down there and Mr. Elvis say "What you say you wanted to do to me?" "I'm gonna kick your ass!" Mr. Elvis say "Yeah? I'm gonna whup yours too!" He whupped the guy. I mean he really beat him. That guy took off running. Elvis just killed himself LAUGHING. He said "I bet he won't tell anybody else that."

I have a different take on what happened. It was mentioned on the Elvis Radio station that a backup musician had made a comment during rehearsal that the lady's voice sounded like a singing saw. It seems that the comment crossed Elvis' mind as she began singing. His laugh is accentuated each time she begins raising her voice as his focus remains on her voice. The toupee story was a statement made by his entourage. Elvis changed the words of a song quite often in the past but never laughed hysterically. Listen again.

I can be having a bad and hear his laugh and I can't help but laugh with him. He had such a sweet spirit about him. I'm with you Ray, it upsets me so much to hear people try and make him out to be a bad person. He was human and far from perfect. But he did more good in his short life than any of us could ever do. Nothing his money hungry EX WIFE could ever say that would change the minds of a true Elvis fan. What breaks my heart is his most avid supporter and defender, Lisa Marie, isn't here to keep Zilla in check. Its sad that not one of his grandchildren was at Elvis week this year. But on the bright side EPE has stood strong against this movie and didnt allow her to use any of his music in it. Thanks for this request and reaction. Amazing as always. ❤
