Your knowledge on Em's career/discography is what's up....I'm 37 too (I thought that's what you said your age was, I could be wrong) and I 100% remember the feeling and excitement of what was gonna drop next as well as the anxious feeling hoping that all the street shit that was goin on was didn't get too out of hand. Those were the days too me man for real. I never really thought about until like this second, like as I am writing this message....but back then it really felt like hip hop was alive & real!!! Now, it's just not the same. Also, to your point about new vs old Em, the biggest thing these kids are missing is that this punchline double triple shit wasn’t necessarily a thing back then. 90’s and early 00’s hip hop was more about the cadence, flow, staying on beat and your rhyme schemes, I mean none of the best storytelling raps have those doubles and triples and shit. Kids today are more impressed with “creative” punchline after punchline and ignore every other aspect. As long as you say a cool or clever line it doesn’t matter how you said it, if it’s on beat, if it’s sonically pleasing just if the line itself is “hard af” then it’s dope. Tbh Wayne started that nonsense around 07, literally just speaking sentences one after the other on a beat with no flow but people lost it cuz of how clever the line supposedly was. Kanye was another bad for it around that time.
