I’ll send my Nicks for resole by you guys to ensure original holes are reused. That hand stitching is top notch!

Another fantastic job. Hand-sewing the sole must've been a chore. The Cat's Paw heels are a nice touch.

Thanks, and yes the hand stitching is a process but it looks really good in the end.

What a nightmare dealing with that spi.. it looks like there’s a couple missing stitches on the left boot.. notably on the toe. Idk if it’s just the camera or not. I imagine it’s hard to hit EVERY hole. Especially with the awl being so beefy and the holes so small. I have 2 pairs of vibergs with that stitch density.. I’ve wondered how impossible it would be to resole them.. I imagine it’s pricey and understandably so, it’s time consuming. It looks like you really do your best to make it as neat as possible but i imagine it’s nearly impossible to get that same factory look.. and I’m one of those ppl that would be driven crazy looking down at glaring white stitching that’s all wonky lol. I kinda figured i re-heel would be practical but once the Dainites wear out it’s kinda a rap.. guess not though 🤷🏻♂️ like yeah i know they’re “re-sole-able” technically but is it really practical? You’d have to really be into them.. like my 1035 in brown cxl might be worth it. The leather is gorgeous (the use great cuts) and idk if it’ll still be in production by the time they’re cooked. Lost and found still has them but the 1035 isn’t overly common in that leather. Idk guess we’ll see, guess i know who I’m calling when the time comes though☝️

This is very reminiscent of Brian the bootmaker’s videos when he replaces the soles on his customers boots.

Is it safe to assume that hand sewing a stichdown shoe greatly increases its life expectancy and the number of times you can resole it? Cheers

The outsole stitching looks painstaking. Why could you not use a machine?
@UnsungHouse2 жыл бұрын
We could use the machine. But with the old holes in the stitch-down portion being so close together there is a chance that with the machine the awl wouldn't find all the old holes. So we wanted to hand stitch to make sure the top stitching looked really clean.

squeaky boots? I use WD40 on mine. Works like a charm.
