A Peel session was always an honor for any band to do and it usually brought out the best in any band. Plus Peel was meticulous. I actually wish someone had continued after Peels death and continued the tradition. Phil Lynott and company sound great here! Thanks for uploading this! RIP Phil Lynott

Much as I love Lizzy, they weren't my favourite 'album' band, but were, by a country mile, the best live act I've ever seen. I was fortunate enough to see them with Robbo in '77 and Gary Moore in '79. Live performances were where Lizzy thrived. What a band.

Yeah, they were peak Lizzy right here in their prime with the classic lineup. Amazing to have a recording like this. Would love to hear Bad Reputation, Opium Trail, and Dancing in the Moonlight with the same recording style and setup.

Best Lizzy listening are the BBC sessions as told to me by Brian Downey and he was / is right , recorded there band with no frills- This was said to me today by ''Studs'' a roadie for the band

@@KeenanNeighbors One of my faves is 'Don't believe a word' and on these sessions, Phil's bass playing is brilliant. Bugger it ! Time to play them all over again (maybe just a BIT louder this time !!!). Hehehe
Thanks for sharing. Back in the day when I was a youngster, the measure of a band was how did they sound in concert vs album. From what I have read, no one came close to Phil and the Boys. Brian Downey dosen't get enough credit for blending the beat seamlessly into every TL song. The vocals & bass is superb and the twin guitars....enough said.

Wow what a band, and The Warrior leaves you almost reeling withe the guitar riffs spinning & darting here and there -it's an aural delight. We have to count ourselves lucky as we now hear these sessions in high quality. At the time most heard them through tiny tranny or mono car radios, and would have missed the depth& sutble shift of emphasis between the band members. Peelie presided over s unique in our island's cultural history which is recorded here for us to review in wonder. I have only sctatched the surface so far. Enjoy it...

15 of the tracks were officially released on www.discogs.com/Thin-Lizzy-The-Peel-Sessions/release/3753762 and a further 14 on a bootleg ( www.discogs.com/Thin-Lizzy-More-Peel-Sessions/release/10250456 or www.discogs.com/Thin-Lizzy-Tracks-From-The-Vaults-More-John-Peel-Sessions-/release/4788096 ) but I don't know how good the sound quality of the bootleg is. The sound quality of the official release is very good, but not quite as clear as this, which was recorded from broadcast. There are also a further 14 tracks which as far as I know are unavailable as yet. Some earlier BBC recordings of Peel Sessions were wiped so that the tapes could be re-used (shudder!!!), as happened with Roxy Music (4th session - 1972) and The Damned (3rd session - 1978, which is available on my main channel), so the BBC may not have everything. I don't know. I will record anything else which is re-broadcast or may possibly track down recordings of the original broadcasts. Will upload whatever I can get my hands on.

Vibracobra23 , Is it possible for you to get the entire Peel session it actually starts with Whiskey in the jar, Rosalie etc. Your 3 peel lizzy videos only cover 75% of the thin lizzy peel session. Your audio is outstanding and dont think Im not grateful for the upload. Its sick man. Just asking for the others ? Ty
@Vibracobra23Ennui5 жыл бұрын
Hi! This IS an entire Peel Session, comprising all of the tracks that they recorded on that day and broadcast by Peel as a single session. There are 11 different Thin Lizzy Peel Sessions in total recorded between 1971 and 1977 (43 tracks altogether I think). I believe that you're thinking of the first of the official releases, which is 15 various tracks, presumably chosen by them or their record company and taken from several sessions recorded between 1972 and 1977. The second official release is a further 14 tracks. Those are not Peel Sessions as such, they are official compilation albums made up of tracks from various Peel Sessions. I don't upload official releases or compilations. I upload individual sessions that were each recorded in a single day, many of which include tracks which have never been officially released. I have several of Thin Lizzy's other session tracks, but there are over 4000 Peel Sessions altogether and there is a limit to how fast I can upload those that I do have, especially as I also have to work two jobs in order to be able to eat and I make no money from doing these videos. I also know that the official release that you're thinking of is available elsewhere on KZbin and is, at least for me, among the recommended videos shown on the right hand side of this page. I try not to upload recordings taken from official releases as I believe the sound is more authentic when I use recordings from original BBC broadcasts.

@@Vibracobra23Ennui Well cobra, May I begin with a sincere thank you for the fast reply and in depth details to some things I knew but a lot I did not. Man you seem like the kinda guy I'd have no problem drinking cold ones with on a sunny patio deck talking rock facts all day long. haha Ok so the thin lizzy peels stretch back 71-77 and near 40 odd tracks , k got it that's great. And yes that video on the right hand side is the one I play alot but as good as his video is for original sound yours seems a bit tighter than even his. I wont say I just became a thin lizzy fan this last 2 months have always knew an extended amount of their tracks this summer my world changed I started hearing them the way the super fans do, zoning in on johnny the fox albums and lightning , hearing killer on the loose for the first time I mean the sun goes down , little girl in bloom studio version it has been a river of eargasmic bliss so I aint too too fussed to hear you aint got those last 4 tracks / or forgive me likely you do but cant upload 24/7 I am happy as piggies in chit with all the tracks I have , I cannot seem to turn this band off they get played daily afternoonly and nightly lol . Peace my bro , thanks 4 the reply and most important the lowdown on how the peels unfolded for thin lizzy. Blessing from Canada ok .... Jim
@Vibracobra23Ennui5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, you're welcome. It sounds a bit different to the other video and the official release because it's recorded straight from an on-air BBC broadcast. To me it sounds better and at least then I know that it's as authentic as I could hope for. I do have those last few tracks from that first compilation, but they're not from a single session anyway, rather from several and with some tracks missing, and as you say, the sound isn't as good. So, I'd rather wait until I have the complete individual sessions recorded directly from the BBC if possible, and preferably with John Peel's comments, as with the 1974 session. I tend to get them eventually if I keep my eyes peeled.
