I took Delta One from Atlanta to Seoul and tbh that was the best flight I've ever been on (but I don't travel often so take that with a grain of salt lol). But the seat was comfy, the FAs were SO KIND and truly went OUT of their way to make me feel comfortable and well taken care of. I talked to one FA for damn near 3 hours straight because I was soooo nervous moving to another country and she was the nicest lady. Never had an issue with the bathrooms or water dripping on me. And we were definitely well fed. I know that this flight was bad, but I highly encourage you to try Delta One one more time and go international! :) EDIT: Ah, I see someone else has commented something along these same lines and I've read your response to that. :) But will still leave my comment here for others if they find it^^

Wow, I always thought Delta was the best american carrier, but I guess that's only with their international service. Domestic first class passengers don't even get lounge access on a cross country flight, that's such a dealbreaker, also, no food, not even sandwich on a 3-hour flight, unacceptable. If all those things that happened to you happened to me, I would be demanding my money back. Once again a really good review though, I love how you tell a story instead of just sticking a camera under your seat. Your videos are also really well edited, it must take a lot of time. But this definitely quality over quantity.

Not having a meal catered on a flight after 8PM is a practice that is done on all legacy carriers, not just Delta
@jrs895 жыл бұрын
While inexcusably bad, you experienced a run-of-the-mill US domestic flight on a tight/irregular schedule (e.g., CES week) departing late in the day from a major hub. This is not an uncommon experience for frequent fliers on narrow bodies. Those 737s and A320s get pretty filthy by the afternoon after constantly being flipped and barely cleaned. It looks like they used the same treatment on this massive A350 after a long flight from ICN or HND. In the US, in the age of the online travel site where price is the only way to differentiate, every carrier is basically a low cost carrier on domestic flights. What was really pathetic was how seemingly indifferent the crew was to your concerns. Delta's A350 product on long haul service is generally quite good. There are some pretty solid crews out of MSP and especially DTW. I regularly fly to Korea and often prefer this product to other carriers. It has the best hard product (e.g., private suites, quiet plane, good cabin air quality / conditioning), a good-but-inconsistent soft product, and it's operationally reliable. I sleep really well on it. I just wish they would refine the soft product a little bit. It has a lot of things going for it. The meal service doesn't drag on too long, catering is good (they partner with local asian restaurants), and I especially like the beverages. The service, cleanliness, quietness, and professionalism is nowhere near the level it is on the Korean or Japanese carriers. I think this is hard to grasp for Americans/Canadians and even Europeans. Western culture is so much more laid back, independent, and casual.
@VicariousVoyager5 жыл бұрын
Hey there, really appreciate you taking the time to write all that - and I agree. Perhaps my perspective is biased, but I do feel like that there is a disparity between some of the airlines. I’ve flown JetBlue, Alaska, Virgin America (rip), American and United domestically, all in business class (or what Americans refer to as first class). JetBlue is hands down the best experience overall. Alaska and United are solid, and American can be a mixed bag. Dirty cabins by the end of the day is something I come to except, things in the cabin breaking is also not uncommon but I’ve never been neglected for food on a 3 hour + domestic flight before. United always serves at least a plated, cold meal on flight longer than two hours, America has the decency to give you a sandwich and drink. Imo United has the the best service. That’s probably a skewed perspective though because I had global services last year and pretty much only fly to Texas or long haul. Those Texan crews are fantastic. Delta threw me off guard. I heard a lot of good things about them, and having not flown with them since I was really small, I had high expectations. My experience doesn’t reflect their international service, which I’m sure is great, but it does make me want to avoid them when it comes to domestic flights.
@jrs895 жыл бұрын
Vicarious Voyager I was surprised to learn about the whole meal service thing. I used to fly between DTW and LAX on a weekly basis. Sometimes I would connect through SLC to another nearby airports in Southern California. There was always meal service. Perhaps this segment was just long enough for service. To be honest, I got so tired of “meh” catering that I wouldn’t only eat on early morning flights or if I didn’t have time to elsewhere. What is domestic flying like in Canada? What are the 2-4 hour flights like compared to US? Is it better?
@VicariousVoyager5 жыл бұрын
Up here, with the two bigs carriers, Air Canada and WestJet, things are considerably better. Speaking for AC, you get a light meal on flights longer than 30 minutes, and a full hot meal on flights longer than 2 hours. On cross-country wide body flights (which are common) you get four course meals. If you’re ever hungry, they have hot snacks and sandwiches. I made a video about AC’s transcon service. The catch is, however, air fare up here is a bit more expensive than in the US.
@einezcrespo21074 жыл бұрын
@@VicariousVoyager You are correct about the disparity of US airlines domestically which is fair. When I lived in the US some airlines sucked while some are okay-ish. The worse one I took was the now defunct Eastern Airlines from Miami to Atlanta. It was an old airplane (never bothered check what kind) and sounded so rickety I was afraid it might fall apart. Once I took TWA which was 30 minutes late from St Louis to San Francisco. However they made up for the delay by cancelling the fee for booze and headphones. Two US Air flight attendants once offered to help change my ticket to San Jose so I didn't have to fly into San Francisco once we landed in San Diego. The bad news was I had to pick up my luggage at SFO! Oh well. My flight was from Miami-Tampa-Tampa-to San Diego-San Diego to SFO I was stupidly being cheap.

I’m getting on in years and after a lifetime of flying … in the last fifteen only in business or first…I never go on a plane (or anywhere, really, without food). I’m usually traveling with a companion and generally I’ll bring bagels with cream cheese, or ham and cheese, or something that’s not a huge mess. I have this terrible fear of getting hungry. And oftentimes I’m not crazy about the food options. I also bring a a giant cup of Cheerios, some Kind bars, etc. I’ve been on enough flights that have been seriously delayed due to crowded runways and sometimes hours can pass…or a weather diversion. We are always grateful that I remember to pack food despite my traveling companions invariably telling me I’m weird. I’m also quite thin so go figure. (Also always buy a large bottle of water after security. It’s amazing the variety in service.) Oddly short flights between countries on the continent always serve a delicious small meal. Sadly my platinum Amex rewards only dumps miles into Delta - ugh. Generally flights across the US, even from JFK to LAX have awful planes and poor service compared to transatlantic flights.

Great review sir.., your humor is almost as thrilling as the content. I must say, considering all the awards "Darling DL" is racking up over other N Amer carriers, I was astounded this flight turned sour. No meals or access to the premium lounge, well those are no secretes (as you correctly show/point on their website). However, a dirty cabin, "urinating ceiling", :) and no soap...., that's a big oops on DL's behalf. Most troubling is the dismissive remarks by cabin crew when you pointed out some of these issues. Since I wasn't on the flight, I'll withhold further judgment -- as there could have been a more urgent matter (e.g., medical or cabin emergency) which required immediate attention. :) Otherwise, telling a premium customer to "check back later"? Ah, not really the best answer one would expect from an airline who has grabbed some pretty high customer service scores. Curious, has/did DL reached out to you regarding this flight? If yes, we would appreciate a follow-up. Over all, excellent (and humorous) review, please keep'um coming!

I, too, fly DAL often, mostly from DTW to LAS. One thing I've found consisant in Delta's hard product is the dirty windows and trash in the cabin. That, I believe, is because of the short "turn times" between flights; not an excuse but, as a passenger/consumer I believe they can do much better. In the rare event there is a problem, I let them know about it. Not in an acid-worded, complaining tone, but more how they failed their own standards. Once I got a reply that began, "We screwed up," and got a gift card of my choice of their partner businesses. And to all the folks who complain about lack of food, etc., those things are clearly stated when you make the reservation.
